The Thursday Cluck! June 26th

  • Up and out ...

Had my cup of tea and took the kids to school ...

Weighed myself yesterday and saw I lost 2 pounds since last week! Might not be 5 but its a good start!

I beat you today Ruth!! Huggs .... only because it is 10:30 in the morning here .... and I feel for you .... I thought Monday was tuesday ... Open head insert brain .... So my littlest missed out on his play group ... Poor guy .... treated him to McD instead ....

Those fries are so hard to resist!! But I was good and stuck to a water instead ...

Can you guys get the Linda McCartney sausages in the states? I never saw them there but they are really good!

MamaJ MamaJ!! Come out come out wherever you are!! Love ya ... Huggs!

Hope you girls have a great day! I'm going to go do my exercises and then sew some curtains while watching a movie with my little guy ... Huggs!!
  • Smarty pants! I really was online before you but decided to watch the sunrise from the deck with coffee and the Doggage. A very red sunrise usually means rain later in the day. I sure hope so because it's hot already and I don't want to be dragging hoses around the Fairgrounds today.

Yesterday's school work pick-up went well but I have to go back again this morning to a couple of schools who were not ready. I am so happy that my car has AC - maybe I'll sleep out there tonight as the house is now really warm and the AC guy comes tomorrow - if he shows!

I made a potato salad (shocking!) yesterday and we had that for dinner with chicken done on the GF grill. I am not cooking until the AC is on! Well, I will do stove stuff early in the a.m. I also put a pot of cold water on any hot element to cool it down quickly - heat transference? It really does help. Remind me of this when I ***** about the cold next winter!

A friend dropped in last night at 9 just as we were getting ready for bed. Glen owns one of Hershey's pups and is sort of family. He was up here setting up his trailer camper in the Park and he and the rest of the Hyper Pypers will be up this weekend. Lucy will be glad to see her littermate, Bailey, and we will get them into the lake for swims. I intend to visit them at their campsite because having them here is just insane! I've seen hyper kids and even had one but these kids are super wired! Nice family, though.

I have to bung in some more plants from generous Lurker Lorraine, then shower and get ready to do more schoolwork and ticket rounds. I plan on more chaise time this afternoon - hope it works out.

    Keep cool, EveryChick!
  • I think you have some AWOL chickies. It's amazing that I'm the third one in.
I can't stay long because I have to go to the hall to help prepare for a funeral reception in a little while. It's a memorial service for the hubby of one of our club members. Seems to me I was doing the same thing for another member's hubby just about a year ago.
I'm still OP on South Beach and feeling a bit better every day. Man, what those carb binges can do to you! I made potato salad yesterday too, Ruth, but I didn't have any. Luckily, I'm not that fond of potato salad.
    Bye for now.
  • Hi from Louisiana....or should I say Looooooooosiana hehe. Just wanted to say hello. I have been lurking for awhile, using the low carb posts and recipes for inspiration, but then it hit me...maybe I can be inspiring too

I'm looking forward to getting to know ya'll!

    Have a great day everyone

    D.J.
  • Hello everyone! I`m sure folks are trying to beat the heat, I know I am. I`m relegated to the basement where it`s nice and cool. Upstairs I might as well bake cookies in the living room!

It is probably a good thing anyway, I`ve been hardat work trying to vlean this dumpup! And I mean dump too--I`mnot the only one with pack ratitis--dh is probably the worst offender!

Hope everyone beats the heat today--should be a good drinking water day everyone!
  • Hi Everybody!! We sure seem to be short on people these last few days--hope everyone is doing something fun and that is the reason they're not checking in. Course who am I to talk--when school gets here I always seem to lose my way to the computer.

Late post for me--seems like the morning just absolutely flew by me. I did get my Body Flex workout in. The bar is geting easier on my neck--the washcloth really helps. I actually did a 1 1/2 workout--someone called right in the middle of the first time I tried, so when I got off the phone I rewound the tape and started over.
We finally got rain last night--I know you guys on the East coast are thinking "big deal"--but we have been DRY here in IL. Unfortunately the rain came in a deluge when I was trying to drive on the interstate to a basketball game with a car full of teenage boys! Can anyone tell me why semi drivers seem to be able to see to drive fast even when noone else can? We did make it up there--about 50 miles and back thank goodness, but my DS, who has been driving all of a month thinks I drive like an oldy lady! Oh well, I kept them all safe right?
Quiet day today, housecleaning (eternally) laundry (lots of sweaty gym clothes) Body Flex and grilling out dinner. The weather is back to the 70's so it will be perfect. DS only had basketball this a.m. and then needs to go back and lift weights for football tonight, but should be home by 6:00 so we can eat a decent time for a change.
Yesterday on my errand running I picked up the "South Beach" diet book that everyone has been talking about--Coincidentally it was the featured diet in my Woman's World magazine I got yesterday too. Can't wait to sit down and read it and see what it is all about.

Pooky, I am the original packrat--many of my jobs on my summer list are weeding through jammed cabinets and cupboards. I'm getting there slowly, but it is like climbing Mount Everest.

Jif, Happy Birthday a bit late!! :cake:

Ruth, I just got a George Foreman grill from my mom this year--I have a really good recipe for chicken breasts with portabella mushrooms and red onions in balsamic vinegar if you are interested.

Linda, so you are doing South Beach--do you like it? I skimmed the magazine article yesterday, but need to reread it and get going on the book. The weight loss they promise sounds great!

Kudos, sorry about the playdate, but I bet your DS enjoyed lunch with mom--good job on resisting the friess!!! You are Superwoman--I LOVE those things!!

Okay, I think that that's it for me!!! Hope to see/hear from everyone soon.

"Dondar" are you lurking--wanting to hear how you little guy is doing!
  • Work and more work for me now time to hit the house UGH will it never end???

DD2 Is really ticking me off!!! can not manage to get any thing done!!! and she is suposed to go to Germany???
  • Hey every one!

Kudos!!!!! Super GREAT to see you!!!!
