  • Sleeping with a snorer!
    Oh.My.Goodness!!!!

I'm so close to putting him in the garage at night! I need suggestions of what others have done...please!

    Here's what won't work:
He's average weight, so weight loss isn't the answer
He's a crazy sleeper...and I mean crazy all over the bed sleeper, so a breathing machine won't work
He can't take medication, he already takes enough

    Here's what we've tried:
Breathing strips - hit and miss with these
Having him sleep in various positions, but again, he's a crazy sleeper so he constantly moves around
I already take prescription strength sleeping pills (yes, he still wakes me up despite the pills)

Please, please, please throw out suggestions!

Wow. So simple, yet it never entered my mind! Thanks!!
  • I sleep with a ''I drank too much''-snorer, so at least it's like once from time to time, nothing to complain

ALTHOUGH I sleep with someone who sleep SO LIGHTY, I get wake up at night because I breathe too loudly. LOL!
  • sew a baseball/softball/tennis ball into the back of his night shirt--> or i personally dont sew, so i put a ball inside of a sock, and safety pinned it to the back of my shirt (which i now force myself to wear EVERY NIGHT even though i prefer to sleep in the buff!)

The ball on his back will (eventually) force/teach him to sleep on his side or his stomach (where he most likely doesnt snore, or at least as badley?)

At first, he will still try to sleep ion his back, and keep waking himself up in pain from the ball. My lower back was really sore in the mornings for a couple of weeks......
but now, i know for a fact im sleeping on my side, and not rolling to my back (because im actually DREAMING, all through the night!!) Meaning, im no longer having the apneas that prevented me from ever dreaming for a few years....

the ball works. if hes THAT active of a sleeper, then use a harder, larger one (like a softball) and sew it into a packet on the back of his shirt, so it cant go anywhere.

I've heard of the ball trick before, I'm glad to find out that it works!

My guy snores on his stomach, sides, back...any and every position! And yes, just as bad

His parents sleep in separate rooms because his mother can't stand the snoring.

haha!! Wait, isn't heavy breathing considered light snoring??
  • I feel for you. My husband snores pretty loudly but thankfully it usually starts after I've fallen asleep. If I'm awake, I usually just poke him until he rolls over on his side and it helps.

Apparently I snore too it just doesn't bother him at all because he could sleep through a tornado hitting the house. Lucky.

As long as I'm breathing only through my nose, I will stand into my non-snorer position! ahahah!
  • Be happy he's there to snore. I lost my husband in November. I miss his snoring.

LUCKY!! I snore and I guess I can get pretty loud. -- My DH is relieved that he travels weekly. Hotel = Good Night's Sleep

Mine is weight related. I actually have a silly sounding goal why I wish to lose weight; That I would stop snoring and let my wonderful husband enjoy his nights next to me
  • I wear earplugs, and use an air filter (for white noise as well as air cleaning) in our bedroom. And I give my DH a poke in the ribs and the instruction to roll on his side if he starts to snore.

I did read one time that you can take a night shirt and sew a tennis ball into the back of it to keep someone from rolling onto their back. At least in my DH's case that would work because he only snores when laying on his back. (EDIT: Oh, I see someone else made this suggestion also)
  • You can buy earplugs in Wal-Mart, very cheap.

    I use them every night.

    I am sorry!
