Posting for Accountability's Sake!

  • Hey everyone! It's Friday and that means...BINGO NIGHT here in the Arctic! I have never played and it's one of the quintessential northern things in our community! It's the Spring Carnival, so it's a furniture bingo! The prizes are like couch sets, washers and dryers, 3000 dollars, etc! AND there are only 150 people playing! WOO!

So, I've kicked up my commitment a notch for april, as I am doing the 30 Day Shred this month. From Jillians's new book, I have learned that if I eat 1350 calories a day, I can lose up to 2 lbs a week. It's the end of the week, so I always try to make sure I plan out any 'treats'.

As it stands, I've had 850 calorise today. I am headed into a world of beer, wine, doritos, pepsi- you name it. My goal is to be able to come back tonight and say I consumed 1200 calories today (since I mix up some days to be higher or lower than others). Wish me luck!
  • Let us know what you win at bingo.
  • I'm back! I am pleased to say I made it! I am still sober and I am now at 1200 calories for the day! WOO! Thanks for the support! I'm trying to break my habit of thinking I NEED to drink every weekend..which causes excess calories. WOO!

Unfortunately, I didn't win a darn thing, but I had a BLAST! My friend won $2000 AND a 46 inch flatscreen TV though! Having someone from our group win was totally worth it! My goodness..you see the cliche bingo dabbing in the movies, right? I had over 300 bingo cards tonight! And that didn't compare to anyone else's!

So, if you ever get a chance to play Bingo in a northern community (or anywhere!), go for it! Best night I've had in ages in our tiny, fly-in town of 500!

  • Good on your for keeping accountable
  • ... good luck to all
  • Awesome NorthernChick!!! What a great idea to post for accountability's sake. I'm going to have to remember that! And what a night for your friend winning those big prizes!! Wow!! Great job staying on plan, so happy for you!
  • Well done! How far north are you?
I'm in Whitehorse. My husband is a pilot, tomorrow they're flying a King Air to Watson Lake, then stopping for fuel in Cambridge Bay, then heading up to Resolute.
  • Good for you! And sounds like an awesome night!
