Fast way to make home made peanut butter

  • A friend showed me how to do this and honestly it is the easiest way to make ... far easier than making it in my vitamix

when you shop look for a sale on peanuts, preferable unsalted ones that come in the CAN'S. with the plastic lids THIS IS IMPORTANT

This is what you do open the can. do NOT pour out the peanuts leave them i. get your HAND BLENDER our and just start using it with the peanuts right in the can... blend until it is the consistency you like if you want it a little easier to spread add a tbsp of oil to the mix.. if you want it to taste like Jiffy or such.. add a package or two of sweetener and re-blend.. DO NOT take it out of the can..
When you are done.. use the plastic lid to cover it and Viola .. Home made peanut butter and container and all.. only thing you have to clean is the handblender. Now there are no preservatives in this so be aware.. I keep mine in the frig but you do what you like.
You can make all sorts of nut butters this way and it is so much easier than trying to get the thick butters out of the bottom of a blender or food processor.
I keep one the empty can's to use to blend a couple different nuts together.. I have even made some cinnamon peanut butter .. use you imagination.. and have some FUN
  • I buy nuts in bulk (almonds and peanuts - unsalted) and I throw a pound of them in my food processor and do it that way.

I haven't had any luck adding sweetener while blending before. The nuts somewhat sieze up on me make it unspreadable, more like a reese's peanut butter cup than peanut butter. I have much better luck, just gently stirring it in when I'm all done, if I want a sweetener, but we usually just leave it as is.

I store my nut butters in rubbermaid containers wtih twist on lids - 2 cup capacity for 1 lb of nuts.

Takes about 3-4 minutes in the food processor and goes through stages. I know it's done when the mass in the middle spins without a wobble and looks smooth.
