POM wonderful? good or not?

  • I just came home from the store, bought a bunch of stuff and got a couple fruit juices (EVEN though I try to stay away from drinks with calories) they are both natural fruit, etc...

I got a pom wonderful blueberry one, it's 150 calories, and tasted really good....but I'm wondering, how good for you is it?

Is it worth the 150 calories? or is it a lie? I can never tell...anyone else drink them? thanks..
  • The FTC filed a lawsuit against POM Wonderful for making false heath claims last year (here's a link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1533596.html).
It still really does have antioxidants in it, but the benefits of consuming antioxidants in a processed form is still debatable.

I stay away from juices, but that's just me. I love my coffee with cream in it, and god help the person who tells me not to drink it, lol.
Imo some people do just fine with liquid calories, so if you like em, drink em. It's worth the 150 calories if it's something you can fit into your diet and enjoy having. But if you're only adding it for the supposed nutritional benefits... I would say no, it's not worth it.
  • ok, no more pom for me lol.
    I'm fine with water only
  • However if you still like it maybe mix it with water and lemon or lime juice. I would think diluting it down might be better for ya.
  • I wanted to make a suggestion if you needed something besides water from time to time. I'll sometimes buy 100% cranberry juice (read the label, make sure there are no extras) and pour it into an ice cube tray to freeze. Then I add a couple of cubes to my water bottle and fill the rest with water.

The juice by itself is really tart because of the lack of sugar, but with a big bottle of water it adds just enough flavor for me.
  • I take a shot of POM in the morning with my breakfast. Just a small shot glass, but I take it for it's anti-cancer properties. As with any juice though I would use in moderation.
  • Omg, POm blueberry and vodka is the flippin best normally I stay away from liquid carbs, well, most carbs, but if I'm going to have a bomb cocktail that's what I have. I sometimes mix a bit of seltzer water with it to give it a fizz and dilute to juice.
  • I drink 100% no sugar added cranberry juice, lemon juice and water every day. It's tart and refreshing. The big drawback is the price of the cranberry juice (about 8.50 a quart)!!

Ghost: I'm going to have to try it with vodka!!
  • I occasionally buy POM or another 100% juice and just add a small splash to a large glass of sparkling water. It is tasty and refreshing without being too sweet.
  • I just eat Pomegranates. I love them!
  • FDA not always looking out for us
The FDA will shut down anyone that makes health claims not attached to the pharmaceutical industry. They do not like the public using vitamins or doctors suggesting them. And they allow many products that are dangerous, just watch the tv add of drug cases in court for proof of that.
  • I prefer not to drink my calories, it's hard enough not eating them xD.

That being said nothing wrong with the occasional treat, I treat juices like a dessert personally.
