Restricted? Why not?

  • Cannot find an answer to these burning questions. Neither White Cheddar Curls nor Soy Patties are listed on the restricted items list, yet both are pretty high in carbs. Is it an oversight? Any ideas?
  • Not sure which list you are looking at, but they are both restricted.
  • Thanks. That makes sense. I was looking at the Phase 1 chart that explains the regimen and lists the restricted foods. Neither of these are listed on it fr some reason.
  • That confused me, too, when I first started IP because I was looking for the potato puree and chicken noodle soup but they aren't on that list.

I believe that list of restricted and non-restricted is a bit dated and does not include the newer products. I follow the blanket rule of all bars, puffs and ridges/curls are restricted.
  • soy nuts are restricted. i don't think soy patties are though.

  • This is actually the link to the most recent sheet (updated 6-12-12) but even on the old sheet, White cheddar ridges are listed in the restricted items

Thanks! That resolves the question re this one item completely. For some reason it was not listed on the almost identical list I have. Must be an older one.
  • And here's a link to the plainprotein.com web page for the Soy Patty mix - the nutritional information is shown in the smaller picture (Click to enlarge).

Soy patty mix has 11g carbs - 4g fiber, for 7g NET carbs (dietary fiber is not digested and does not count in your carb count). It is unrestricted.

Love this diet, love the "chicks" on this site. You all are so helpful and friendly. Thanks! I originally missed the last column on that sheet. I can now see why both the items that confused me have confused others and why I have been getting a different answer from different sources. Really appreciate all of you taking the time to explain and help!
