Water consumption on Phase 3 and 4

  • Does water consumption go down in Phase 3 or 4? I imagine it would in P4 for sure? I'm looking forward to being able to have maybe 4-5 a day and the occasional Diet Coke again and water with Crystal Light in it.
  • I drink 3-3.5 a day so it's still up, but I allow myself more options but still keep the Splenda/sucralose low, thats my personal choice. Water is important in maintenance too.

I am known to have a pop here and there but generally choose pop sweetened with Splenda or stevia.

I'm bigger then you thou, maybe someone your size can chime in wih what they drink for water (in phase 4)....we're suppose to have a min of 2.5 doubt you'd need the 3-3.5 I drink.

I really notice it when I don't get my water thou!

    Welcome to maintenance!!

    Good luck!
  • Are you talking glasses or litres? God I hope it's glasses!!!

  • Litres lol (sorry)....again you are smaller.
  • Even a non-dieting person should be drinking 8 full glasses of water per day Now, things like herbal tea and non-caffeinated non-sodium enhanced drinks would count in your "glasses" of water. I will probably continue to avoid aspartame-sweetened water flavorings, as a matter of personal choice. If you go back to drinking diet soda, just remember that it is high in sodium and you should still offset it with an equal amount of water.
  • I found this calculator, although there was another one in a post quite awhile ago that I didn't save:

I have read things that say the "8 glasses a day" thing was set there as it is easy to remember, but it depends on your body weight and other factors. As scorbett wrote, it can be more "fluids" than just water. I have also read that the water in foods plays into it as well.

From strictly a maintenance perspective, the 8 glasses is a great goal because you still need fluid to help feel full as well as proper hydration.

For some reason, I am really struggling getting water in (which I was extremely good about when I was on Phase 1). I might get 20 to 40 oz in of water and maybe another 16 to 32 oz in protein shakes. I do better on days when I have decaf.

It's one of the things I am working on improving. The IP info I received said to continue with the 8 glasses (64 oz) a day in all the phases..
