new member seeking buddies to stay motivated

  • Hi all,

I have lived my life as an overweight girl and obese young woman. I've been trying to lose weight since I was 12. I weighed about 240 pounds in high school, and lost some weight in college. I've oscillated between 275 and 235 in my twenties. I am 6'1".

I will turn 30 at the end of the year. I've been recording my calories daily, since April, and low-ish carb consumption along with moderate adherence to calorie limits has helped me lose 16 pounds in that time. Ultimately, I would like to weight about 175, and rock a bikini. For my 30th birthday, I am aiming for 230. I've been reading about others' journeys, which are very inspiring. I look forward to gaining strength from this community.

    Mountain Mamma,
Exercise is an area for improvement for me. I play tennis with friends occasionally, but I don't attend a gym. I'm interested in pursuing strength training with bands.

You don't need to join a gym - just move. Tennis - or anything you like - is great!

I used to exercise a lot and personally am trying to get back into it. So It's my area of improvement as well!

PS Did you pick your user name from the NM flag symbol?

I selected my user name because orange is my favorite color, but the description is very similar to the Zia sun symbol.
