Active Work Day and 4 IP packets?

  • I'm in my 4th week and have been 100% OP. In the last week, I've started working again...I teach at a college. I don't do any heavy lifting, of course, but I do lecture quite a bit. Basically, I'm doing a lot more standing, walking around, writing on the board, & etc. than I did when I started IP. Yesterday, I sat in my office for 40 minutes answering e-mails, and lectured 4 hours. My days do vary, today I'm only lecturing for 3 hours during the day & 3 more solid hours tonight.

My question is...should I add a 4th packet? I do know that standing/walking does burn a lot more calories than sitting at a desk, but I don't really consider it exercise! In fact, I have not been exercising beyond that. My coach told me that I should add a 4th packet. I haven't, yet, because I feel that that may be cheating. I've only added 2 egg whites to my day. Any thoughts??
  • If you find you are hungry have the packet available.

I exercise 60-90 minutes every day at a very high intensity, and have through all the ip phases. Sometimes I have the extra packet, some days I don't. I definitely do if I find myself starving.

You could also consider having 2 whole eggs instead of just the whites. A little extra fat can be beneficial on ip. Especially as you get closer to your goal weight.
  • Thanks for your response! I also forgot to mention above that I have to eat lunch at 11:00 a.m. everyday. So to make it until 5:30 or 6:00 she (actually they) recommended the extra packet. I do find that my stomach is growling a couple of hours after lunch...so hot water & 2 egg whites have worked fine to hold me over. I just don't want to be burning too many calories & not providing my body with enough fuel...
  • Eventually you will probably find if you have a bar around 3:30 or 4 you can stretch dinner until 7 or so. This is what I do as I workout from 6-7 most evenings.

    If I eat at 7:30 I don't need a snack before bed.
