New to IP!

  • I'm just about done with day 4 and can honestly say this is the first diet I've been on where I wasn't hungry and miserable most of the day. I had a dull headache half the day on Day 2, but nothing since. I am satisfied with the amounts of food and packets and plan on making this my last "diet." I have done low carb and South Beach in the past but always ended up feeling hypoglycemic (probably because of not eating the right carbs and such...) but not at all doing IP.

I have PCOS with insulin resistance so I feel like I'm really doing a good thing for my body. Since January, I've lost almost 30lbs by doing 1300 calories/day plus cardio and weights and it's just going too slow. I was frustrated by the slow and aggravating loss, especially when I felt already deprived and like I was working so hard with no payoff. I also got lazy about veggies and it was easy to get my calories in with dairy and carbs so I had really slowed down the weight loss. I'm excited to get jump started doing this, so I can get back to living the healthier lifestyle I need to fight PCOS.

There is so much information here for which I am so grateful! You are all so inspiring!
  • Welcome! Sounds like you had a better transition than most since you were already doing low carb. If you haven't already, check out the recipe threads, there are a lot of great ideas to keep you OP.
  • Welcome! Glad the transition has gone smoothly for you! I'm only starting my 3rd week, so I'm still pretty new. I was happy not to be hungry and miserable either. At this point, I feel like I have to remind myself to eat everything. That's a great problem to have!

I have PCOS and this diet looks just great for us! I am finding a big increase in TOM issues and was told that is common -- heavier flow and increased days... just warnin' ya I also find my skin improved and facial hair not coming in as thick, if that is also something to look forward to.
  • Welome to the IP Team!
  • Welcome! I've been on the IP diet for 5 days and I'm loving it! The weight loss definitely seems to be a lot faster!

  • @ slimmingitdown and SarahJane----in my 3rd week----must say I'm also surprised about not having to fight the hungrys---had a couple of headaches and some leg cramps the 2nd week. I'm drinking a ton of water and that seems to help me except for having to potty all of the time!!!down -9.2 so far; looking forward to my 3rd weigh in!!!!

Yes, those are definitely the two main problematic issues for me...and long term problems worry me, also. I've already had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies so I'm already at higher risk for diabetes, anyway. Glad to hear you are seeing an improvement!
  • welcome to the IP family!
  • I'm on day 6 of IP, and I must say it DOES get better!! My only problem is getting use to the food, I'm still finding out which ones I like and the ones I dont like. What WF salad dressing do yall prefer? Also, what do yall think about the WF chocolate and caramel syrup?
  • Hi and welcome
  • Pancake syrup is devine! Chocolate and caramel syrup are yummy too. Mayo is gross and ketchup tastes a little weird. Haven't tried the marinera sauce yet...
  • Hi! I have a friend diagnosed with PCOS/insulin resistence, her Dr. recommended IP. She's had awesome results. Her first week of success inspired me to try it. I've been on for 9 weeks now and it's been a wonderful life changing experience for me.
