  • Well no kidding I am overweight or I wouldn't be here, right?

I guess this is my story, I have always been a bit on the bigger side but in my early years through high school it played to my advantage. See I played football all the way through grade school and high school to I was a bigger guy 6' 1'' 275 lb but I was in shape for that size. College however changed that my life became more slowed down and that freshman 15 kicked in all 4 years. How do I know that because I just hopped on the scale today and weighed in at a massive 351! Boy that didn't make me happy at all because I knew I had gotten big but that was a scary almost comic number.

I weighed in because I started working out again today and I wanted to see where I was and get the kick in the fat pants I needed to get smaller. My goal is probably to weigh around 220 I think with my body type and build I would be a handsome man again at 220.

And it isn't like I am not decently active I walk a lot of places especially at work. I work at a zoo currently and we have to walk 1/4 mile to and from where we park everyday and that is before I start running all over the zoo all day. So on average I walk 1.5-2 miles 5 days a week, I just have the worst metabolism known to man......well maybe not but it's bad. So for now I am doing Cardio to get back into running/jogging/swiftly waddling pace. I am not going to hit the weights just yet because I am always lifting heavy things around work and at home, so I know I have good muscle tone and ability it is just covered up right now. Like I always said "I just love my 6 pack so much I had to cover it in a protective layer!"

Anyway I am rambling but that's me!
  • Hi Matt! (waves emphatically!)

    Welcome!
  • Hey Chickie. Thanks for the wave
  • Hi Matt! Welcome to the site and your journey of weight loss! That's so awesome you work at a zoo. Its frustrating though working a physical job yet its not enough to lose weight but hopefully you'll find great tips and inspiration here. Best of luck!
  • Hi Matt ( :

I'm kinda new here too, so we'll be newbies together.
You're making a good first step! Just remember...no matter what you do, as long as you're out doing something, that's heck of a lot better than sitting around doing nothing!
    Always stay positive!!!

Plus, I'm pretty jealous you work at a zoo. I wanna work at a zoo ):

    (;
Have a good day, man! And see ya around, I'm sure (:
  • Thank you ladies! I mostly just want to look good you all! But seriously working at the zoo is pretty awesome!
  • Hey...p.s....the Cincinnati zoo rocks! I grew up in Toledo. :-)

That's funny because I just graduated from the University of Toledo....actually was there yesterday because I had to finish packing up my apartment.
  • I went to Miami University and finished up at University of Toledo. Then my hubby whisked me off all over the country as a Navy spouse. ;-)
  • YUCK..Miami.
  • Matt!
