Greetings,
Is there anyone dieting using the Glycemic Index? Please let me know how you are doing.

I am borderline diabetic...so since my risk is so high I have to avoid large shifts in my blood sugar levels. I don't use the INdex as far as looking at the numbers, I can tell by how I feel if it is causing a fluctuation or not. Pretty much, I try to eat whole grains, over processed ones-which keep blood levels more stabilized, and if I do eat a more refined carb, then I make sure that I have a protein source with it-if I have an occasional bit of candy-I don't have it on an empty stomach, I have it immediately after a meal containing a protein source. So basically, it is whoel wheat bread or pastas over biscuits or dinner rolls, and making sure that I have protein, whether it is yogurt, egg, lean meat, or whatever at each meal-and if I have something sugary, it is in a very small amount, and never on an empty stomach.

Thanks, I am looking around for a diet program. I am currently reading "The Glucose Revolution" which is not as restrictive as Atkins. I have tried Atkins and was not able to kick the headachy feeling.

i love the gi diet
I read a article in the womans day mag. And ever since it is a way of live for me. it doesn't feel like a diet. I have been on the diet for a month and a half now. I do that with yoga and walking and the weight is just coming off. If you need more info I would be glad to help you. Suesmall blue

Thanks for your response. I'd truly appreciate your help! Please let me know what you are doing. Congrats!
Hi,
I am confused about how to follow the GI. I have the books but don't quite get how to go about eating with the GI. Do you just eat the low GI foods? Is there a diet plan that I could follow for a few days until I get used to the combinations? thanks....JOyce
