Inches are down, but weight is up D: /rant

  • Ok, this is getting me mad.

I'm smaller than I was two weeks ago, but I cannot get back to my pre-TOM weight of 222, I'm STUCK at the 223-224 range. I've tried a 24h IF, I've avoided salt like the plague, and over the past weekend (Fri-Sun) I've worked a total of 22 hours at my "active" part time job at Booster Juice, which requires me to be on my feet and walk for several hours straight plus do some occasional lifting of giant tubs filled with sorbet or frozen fruit AND I've gone walking during my breaks so I've spent 8,7, and 7 hours (fri, sat, sun) on my feet and moving PLUS walking there and back every day which is 30 minutes each way. I'm stiff, my feet hurt, and my thighs are another .2'' down and my @$$ is remarkably more perky and round as opposed to flat and wide.

Why in heaven's name am I a whole 1-2lbs heavier?!? I like the change in appearance but I'd LOVE to bring my ticker down a bit.

I'm taking a break from any exercise today. I'm at my university job at which I sit in a chair, and it's only a 15 min walk to home. I'm not going for a lunchtime walk and I'm not going to the gym after. I'm way too stiff to do anything but glare at my uncooperative scale tonight.

    Grrrrrr......
  • You're seeing results from being active so this makes you want to be less active???

The scale will move as long as you eat right! Don't get discouraged two weeks into it, or the next 50 pounds will be pure h-e-double hockey sticks. Unfortunately no one steadily loses inches and pounds at a flat rate.
  • If you calories are in check, and you truly are in a deficit...

It's water weight, between extra activity and TOM, there's really no way to NOT retain water. Chances are you will get a whoosh any time now, especially if you are losing inches.

I know it sucks, but you have to be patient. The scale WILL move if you are in a deficit.

I gain during TOM, and inevitably my weight will whoosh several pounds a few days after it's over.
  • You sound like you're due for a whoosh. Ignore what the scale says and keep being active and eating healthy.
  • I know how lovely it is to see a smaller number on the scale, but you actually look smaller. Which would you rather choose - seeing a lower number on the scale and no change in your body, or seeing the same number and a big change in your body???

The scale will cooperate eventually Hang in there! There's such a thing as losing fat, but not actually losing weight.

Just for today. As I said, I'm stiff and my feet hurt. I'll get back on the exercise wagon tomorrow.

Make a ticker with your measurement? That way if one is moving and the other isn't you still get your visual happy.
  • Stop doing things like fasting, that will just screw with your system.
You are probably retaining water from being on your feet all day.
Rejoice about the measurements, rest if you need to, and just keep eating on your normal plan.
