I told him about my progress and he's supportive of that. But when I told him of my reward for if (like my tattoos) he said "uh, is that a good idea for your size?" I know he dislikes tattoos...but jeez. Stuff like that can cut deep..like I shouldn't even try because it won't look good or something.
I don't understand. So they are supportive of your fitness efforts but don't esp like tattoos?
Is that what you are saying?
A.
wow-I am really sorry your dad said that to you. My dad would have said something like that too and it would have hurt me in the same way. Wish I had the right words to make you feel better but at least you are not alone in having a dad who puts his foot in his mouth regarding his daughter's appearance.
Is it your Dad or your BF who said that to you ?
sounds to me like he just doesn't want you to get a tattoo but rather than say "i forbid it", he knows which buttons to push to get you right off the idea.
my mother had a HAIRY CONNIPTION when i got my first tattoo - the pegasus. i have two: a pegasus on my "upper left chest area" and a dragon on my back that starts above my bottoms ribs and runs right down onto my butt.
well, i guess times have changed because guess who's now sporting a cartoon penguin on the back of her shoulder?
Sorry if I was unclear. My boyfriend said that. And I think you're right. I guess he doesn't want me to get the tat

I dont think it has anything to do with you losing weight. This is all about you getting a tattoo..
Actually, my first thought when I read this was that he might be inferring that if you get a tattoo, and then lose more weight, it could distort it maybe? I know that can happen if you get a tattoo and then GAIN weight, so IDK if it's like that the other way around. And I don't know when you were planning on getting it - when you've met your goal, or halfway there, etc. In any case, don't get too down. There's plenty of support here for you!
It was rude, but maybe he meant it in a honest way. Tattoos can distort easily by weight loss/weight gain and it is suggested that those still losing weight or planning on getting pregnant wait until their weight is stable. Nothing would be worse then getting an awesome tattoo to show your success, just to have it look awful once you get to your goal weight (unless you plan on getting it once you reach your goal weight, if so then he is just a jerk)
Thanks everyone! I was going to get it at my goal weight, but that makes sense with the distortion because I may not be satisfied. I love you all and thanks for the constant support!
