Starting again

  • I was here for a good couple of months last year. I lost 30 pounds within 3 months by calorie counting and some exercise. Since then, I gained 10 pounds back. I would like to get back onto the calorie counting wagon. So, where's the best place to judge the number of calories I should start on?
  • I used myfitnesspal.com to figure mine out. I have checked out caloriecount.com as well but I was using my fitness pal first so I just stuck with that.
  • I like freedieting.com . It's set up to use the Mifflin-St.Jeor calculation, which is more conservative than most other calculations and, I've read, more statistically accurate.
  • I like using Fitbit.com (and wearing the Fitbit device on my bra, about $100, but no monthly cost after that purchase), because it takes into account how active I am and motivates me to be more active in small ways that add up. It tells me exactly how many calories I can eat.

This works well for me, because some days I am more sedentary than I'd like and other days I walk 6 miles or even run a half marathon. So the calories I need can vary wildly.
