First Time on Atkins

  • Just wanted to say hi! I started Atkins for the first time today. After borrowing the book from a friend and doing my research, I decided to give it a try. I have PCOS which makes me insulin resistant so I am hoping this helps!

I do have a question. How do you accurately count the carbs on labels that are listed as less than 1? For example, if I eat something that has .8 of net carbs and eat two servings then I have 1.6 net carbs and I don't want to disregard those.

    Thanks in advance!
  • I usually just round it up to one to make it easier to count. Good luck with Atkins!
  • I round up too - partly because I'm no good at math and partly because I want to be sure that I count every carb. Thankfully using the fatsecret tracking website makes the whole math part MUCH easier!
  • Yeah. I round up too. Rather have too few carbs than too many. Good luck with the Atkins. I love it. And generally the first time you do Atkins you seem to have greater success than subsequent tries.
  • I don't do the whole "net carb" thing . . . just doesn't work for me . . . I either stall when I try to add them in, get cravings and even gain!

PS: MY DD (14yo) is so into sock monkeys this year! One of her fave xmas gifts was a "sock monkey kit" (she's made 2) and a sock monkey 18 mo calendar!
  • Hi Atkins people!

I'm from the Ideal Protein thread, but my mom and dad are doing the Atkins diet. My mom is having a really hard time adjusting and is super hungry all the time. Is there anything she can do to stop the hunger, or manage it better?

    Thanks for the help!
