Whoopee!!! AT LAST!

  • Thought I would post an update to encourage anyone who is struggling at the mo....

After 6 weeks of strict dieting and no weight loss, the scales have
eventually started to move! For 5 weeks, I followed a low fat diet including exercise (3-4 45min walks, 1 yoga per week). Although I noticed the inches going slightly, the scales refused to budge.

I just could not understand why. So after browsing this site for a while, I discovered the Sugar Busters concept, and realised although i was eating low fat, I was eating VERY high carb. Anyone familiar with the Sugarbuster/low glycemic concept will know that my diet of sugar cereal, baked potato and white pasta was not going to get me very far!

So I changed to a low glycemic plan, and now eat all bran, soup and wholegrain sandwich for lunch, with chicken and veg for dinner. I also incorporate the Wendie plan of one naughty meal a week to kick start the metabolism.

2lbs gone this week, which is better than nothing (considering i did no exercise at all, and had 2 naughty DAYS).

I hope this post will help anyone baffled by their slow progress...we are all individuals, and some diets works for some, and not others. Try different things - don't let your body dictate the rules!!

(i hope i don't have to eat my words next week when i find my new plan has stopped working!!!).

    GOOD LUCK
    xx
  • WOOOHOOOO congrats big time!!!

Very encouraging, thanks for posting that!!!
  • TY for that. there must still be hope for me yet
  • good for you for persevering
  • That's good if low carb works for you - personally I love carbs and they love me! My Slimming World Green diet is the best I have been on. The weight might be slowish to fall off but bettr that than a massive loss followed by a massive gain and it is healthy at least.

As for inch loss as opposed to weight loss - yes in my class we notice that a lot. Girls who visit the gym often find that they have lost inches but no weight loss.
  • I don't feel like i am doing low-carb as I am having cereal, and wholegrain bread and pasta (I also don't agree with Atkin's type diets due to the pressure they put on your kidneys). I tried the SW Green days concept, but white carbs (white bread, pasta and potatoes) seem to be my worst enemy (as well as my favourite foods - no justice!!). My feeling was that anyone can lose inches by exercising, but i also wanted my diet to drop weight.

More and more information is coming to light about how our bodies react to foods, and it is not a simple as the carb/protein/fat mix - I would encourage anyone who is struggling to investigate what seemingly little factor is slowing their loss.
