  • Those of you that have had success with your weight loss and/or maintaining: how much plain water do you drink? To what extent do you believe your water intake contributed to your weight loss?
  • My goal is 64 oz. a day and I think it helps.
  • I aim for and get those "eight glasses" during the work week. Weekends are different - some less water, some more water; same with food on the weekends. I tend to go a little off either in the eat less way or eat more way, but always making the best choices.

I think it keeps your skin hydrated and its better than any other choices (juice has too much sugar, diet soda the chemicals). Other than 1 or 2 coffees with skim milk, I'm pretty much a water girl now.
  • What body ask. Somethimes 1.5, and others up to 4 liters.
  • I don't track my water, but I do tend to be a drinker, and what I drink is a morning coffee, water, and the occasional cup of tea. I usually have 24-36oz with every meal or snack, which adds up pretty quickly.

I don't credit it for my weight loss though, because I didn't drink significantly -less- water when I wasn't losing weight.
  • i get my 8 glasses in. however, i do count tea in my water intake and i drink 4 cups of tea altogether a day. i just feel a little healthier when i'm hydrated. it could be a placebo affect, but it also keeps me from overeating, so i dont mind
  • I'm not sure. I drink a couple of cups of coffee in the morning, but all of my other drinks are water. I only drink water, except for that morning coffee (and I'm vegan, so no milk). So, whenever I'm thirsty. If your pee is clear and you're not thirsty, you're getting enough.

I used to drink some diet soda, but gave it up altogether...On Engine 2 diet I lost my craving for diet soda and don't even like it now, so I'm totally on water now. I don't think it's had a huge impact on my weight loss, only b/c I wasn't drinking milk, juice, beer, whatever anyway. If your drinks have calories in them and you replace them with water, I can see where it would effect change.
  • I usually drink 64 oz. or at least I try to. It helps me not eat as much during meals and prevents me from snacking extra throughout the day.
  • I'm a big girl, so up to 96 oz of water a day. I have a lot left to lose, but I've been told that it's necessary to keep the skin supple and agreeable to shrinking back down to size. I don't know if it's true, but it's cheap to test it out!
  • I don't drink anything besides water/coffee/tea.

I mainly drink it when I'm thirsty. I don't have a water goal.
  • I've not really been successful (yet!) But my two cents ... During the workweek I tend to drink a glass an hour for the majority of the day, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. but on weekends it varies. I dont drink juice or pop due to the calories, and I really just don't like it all that much lol. I will say the water helps me fill up!
  • I usually drink about 1.5-2l of water and herbal tea, as advised by my doctor, and I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference to my weight loss. There are some crazy ideas about adding a certain amount of water for every 10lb you want to lose, and they are more likely to cause water poisoning than anything else.
  • I don't even know because I drink water. All. The. Time.

My problem before was that I ate when I was bored and/or doing work. I now drink water when I'm bored and/or doing work.

...I have to go to the bathroom a lot, but at least it's better than eating all the damn time.
  • I drink water much easier when I'm at work than when I'm home, cause at home there's always something to do! At work I'm at my desk I aim for 2L a day.
  • I aim for no less than 100oz. But usually I aim for half my body weight in ounces of water. I've cut out anything else besides water.

I just feel better with just water & I think I can usually tell a difference better in whether I'm *really* hungry or just thirsty
