  • I just looked it up online. Only 2?? I don't believe it. I just don't! Can someone please confirm/debunk this? With cream and sugar there's more, but I'm just talking about the coffee itself. If it's true, I'm going to feel 10x better about drinking coffee in the morning.
  • that sound about right!! i have read that also
  • I think that is right, black with no cream or sugar.
  • Yay this makes me so happy! I prefer cream and sugar (substituted with soy milk and splenda) in my coffee, but if there are so few calories in it, then I'm going to try to stick to black and cut the rest of those calories right out!
  • That's for a 6oz cup. A 12 oz (large) mug is about 4 calories. Not that's much more, but I like to be precise.

I drink coffee black. Higher quality coffee is much more palatable black.
  • per 8oz. there are 3cals. I know its lovely right?!
  • Yeah---that's one of the things I don't even bother counting. I figure I burn that many calories in the act of drinking the coffee
  • yes, true...enjoy! These, I don't count; tea either.

I thought tea didn't have any calories in it? Or do you mean certain types?

3 calories :-) so room to add some lite cool whip for another 5 cal :-) yum!
  • I just had the opposite experience... at Tim Horton's, a large coffee with cream has 70 (!!!!!!!) calories. What kind of cream are they using!? Whipping cream? At home I use 5% - 20 calories per tbsp. So depressing
  • Tea has about 2-4 calories, depending on the type. I know Green Tea is 4 cals for 8 oz.

they will put in milk if you ask for it.

This is all a revelation to me. I didn't think there was any calories in tea or coffee
  • For the most part I drink my coffee black. About once a weekish..sometimes more, sometimes less, I add some cream simply because I want it creamy. On an everyday basis though, black is the way to go! (at least for me)

When it comes to adding cream, milk and sugar, etc. you simply have to decide what is important to you. I know some who make creamy sugary coffee their dessert for the day. Then there's others like me who choose black 99% of the time and have some other snack.

Tim Horton's definitely hides their cream!! 2 creams is really the equivalent to almost 4 creamers (1 Tbsp each). When I go to Tim's and I want cream in my coffee, I ask for a few on the side. That way I know how much I'm putting in and I can decide if I want to spend 40 calories or 80!

THIS is such an important point I think. Not just for coffee but for all of our eating plans.

Totally agree with you re: Tim's tricking us with their cream. Good tip asking for cream on the side, I'll have to do that...I'm not much for milk in coffee.
