Wellbutrin, Anyone?

  • I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for the past few years. I am scared to go on anything else because I know my weight is the #1 factor in my depression. The last thing I need is an antidepressant that contributes to additional weight loss.

The last time I saw my Dr., we decided to up my dosage from 150 mg to 300 mg a day and it seems to be helping.

    Can anyone else relate?
  • I was on Wellbutrin for 3 weeks and noticed a world of difference. I loved it. I even lost five pounds while on it. Unfortunately, one day I woke up and was covered in hives. Turned out I was allergic to it. I've been on effexor for 10 days and have not really noticed it working. I gained back 4 of the 5 pounds lost
  • I've been on 300mg for a couple years. It didn't affect my weight, but it really helped my anxiety and depression issues. Also, it makes my tummy a little uneasy, so I take the full dose at bed time (Dr.'s Orders).
  • Wellbutrin was terrible for me and made my temper flare. I suffer more from anxiety than depression so I am sure that Wellbutrin and the previous Celexa that I took wasnt the right med. I am currently on Klonopin which is more anxiety geared and its working better for me.
  • I took Wellbutrin for 3 weeks, and it literally altered my state of mind...my state of BEING rather. I never tried it before, and I never will go back to it. I had suicidal thoughts, extreme anxiety and had 2 panic attacks that I hadn't had in over 3 years. I'm SO glad that it works for you though!!! I heard that Wellbutrin is the type of drug that either works well with people that don't have many side effects, or when it doesn't for others it can get pretty bad.
  • Wellbutrin was one of the worst ones I've been on, with Effexor being the absolute worst.. side-effects wise. I'm now on Citalopram (Celexa) for my anxiety and it has almost entirely cleared up my anxiety problems on a day to day consideration (I still suffer from panic attacks on occasion, but no where near like I used to). It has also completely cleared up a severe issue I have with anger.. I'm like a different person, but in a good way.
  • I had been on Wellbutrin for several years (as well as Celexa more recently) but chose to go off because the antidepressants will work for a little while but then I would go back to being depressed again. Plus I had additional confusion and anxiety. They were making me worse. Not better. The side effects going off the medication have been brutal and I've gained even more weight.
I am glad though that I feel like I have more control in my life and I can eat a proper diet and exercise in order to regulate my mood.
