  • So I have been reading about it on here and had no clue what it was so I decided to Google it. ( I am a big time Googler lol) It looks like something I might want to try. I was just curious about what other people's opinions are about it. I have been so tired and without energy recently, I am hoping this might help. Is it ok to do at any weight? Any thoughts, tips, or opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
  • I have read in various places that the C25K is feasible for overweight and obese people; however, one might have to start at a less intervals of running. I have been "wogging" with some friends in the evenings, and my distance jogging has improved drastically.

And as always, get the doctor's approval before starting!
  • I've done it in the past and just started it back up this week. I was just over 300 the first time I did it and even competed in 3 different 5k races back in 2008. My coworkers and I decided to sign up for the Race for the Cure next month and I figured I better do something so I'm not huffing and puffing so bad. I downloaded an app on my phone that beeps when to switch over to jog/walk and it was so much more helpful than when I used my stopwatch in the past.
  • I googled it too after seeing it on here lol

Good luck if you do it, let me know how it goes!
  • @ barbygirl, I also have an app I am going to download.

I will let you know how it goes. I am trying to talk my hubby into doing it with me lol..
  • If you go to the C25K website you can download the podcasts for each week and play them on your iPOD/mp3 player as a run/walk guide. They're pretty good, I used them last time I did the program. You can do them at any weight and if you're not ready to move on to the next week then repeat your current week as many times as you need. Best of luck!

I am new here so not sure how to PM but will be checking the boards a couple times thruout the day! Greatest of luck to you!
  • I'm starting Monday too! I will see if I can PM you. I know it took awhile before I could do it. Definitely we can do this!
  • Ok so I just noticed I can't PM you yet. I think you have to be here a certain number of days before you can do that. I did notice that you are in Cali and we have the dame bday though! Too funny! What part of Cali are you in?

  • Hi again - I am in Northern Cali about 2 hours east of SF. I think I have to wait 20 days before I can do anthing else. I guess we will have to wait til I hit that level until then we can chat on here ?!?! Is there an IM thru here?

Have a great evening and chat with you soon.
  • I started this and really liked it. I never got to a run but we would walk leisurely at first and then I would fast pace walk when we were supposed to run. Then it was brisk walk and super brisk walk. Then I got a heel spur and no more c25k for a while.

I downloaded the app for the iPhone, it was well worth the 2.99
  • @mybestme, I don't know if there is an IM here but I do have AIM? Let me know if you do too. Ready to start today???

@JodiM, that is a good idea about the walking fast. I may need to start out trying that although this weekend I was able to jog for a bit without getting totally winded lol.. I am scared I might hurt myself if I jump rght into something I haven't done in years! I might try the jog for as long as I can and if not then I will do the brisk walking. Thanks for that tip!
  • @2cute I have yahoo im with the same name as here. I started the C25K this morning. I started walking for 5 minutes at 3 then mid run at 5 for 1 minute then walked at 3.5 then the run portion at 5.5. This pace seems to work now only did 16 minutes this morning because the belt on our treadmill was slipping so I needed to get that fixed for safety. I will do a full 30 minutes later this afternoon and then yoga with my Mister this evening
Have a fantastic day and hope to catch you later
