Hey Everyone!

  • Hi everybody! My name's Maggie, I'm 18, getting ready to go to college in the fall. I'm currently 213 lbs. I'm 5'8". Several years ago, when I was in 4th and 5th grades, I lost a lot of weight. I was doing weight watchers and exercising regularly. I played basketball and volleyball, I rode horses, rode my bike on a daily basis, Went walking at night. Since then, I've had a lot of life changes and been dealing with depression and things. I've ended up gaining back all of the weight I lost and then some.

    I need to get some motivation back and I really need to start getting healthy again. I remember feeling better when I losing weight. I'd like to get back there.

    I'd appreciate any and all support or advice or both! Thanks!
  • Hey and a big irish welcome to you!lol. Theres different sections etc here so have a look around, theres one for dealing with depression too. It sounds like your ready for this which is a big thing starting off. And you have lost weight before so you know what is involved etc. Best of luck!!

  • Hey Maggie I just wanted to welcome you to the forums and encourage you to check out the college-age forums. I just graduated grad school so it has been a few years but every time I went to school I lost weight because I was not around food all day and I walked everywhere. I remember dreading coming home because I knew I would gain weight. Thought I would just let you know that it is not "the inevitable freshman 15".

    My husband and I are starting our diet on Monday, however I am anxious about it since the last time was a stand still.

  • Welcome! I am in my 3rd year of college. The first year was when I gained all the weight I had lost. So be warned, you will have to put a lot of effort into staying in shape when you get to college.
