Supplements: who takes them and what helps

  • I was wondering if anyone takes and supplements and what is helpful/harmful..
  • I take a multi, 1000 of C, 600 of B12 and a D...
  • I take prenatals and DHA. I have no clue if they're helping or not but we would like to TTC in the semi-near future so I figure it's good to get in the habit.
  • I have a nutritionist and we have worked together to increase my health for the past year (previously had a few health problems).
I take entirely too many supplements, but I feel AMAZING!

    Morning
    • Food-based multivitamin
    • 14 billion CFU probiotic
    • 3,000mg L-lysine
    • 760mg Echinacea
    • Super B-complex
    • 1,000mg buffered vitamin C
    • D-3 (2,000 IU)

    Night
    • 14 billion CFU probiotic
    • 3,000mg L-lysine
    • 760mg Echinacea
    • 1,000mg buffered vitamin C
    • 2,000mg fish oil
    • 1,200mg calcium
  • Multi-vitamin, fish oil supplement, and sea buckthorn supplement.

I don't know if the multi-vitamin does much, but I figure it won't hurt. Jury's still out on the sea buckthorn supplement (and the sea buckthorn body wash) - I'm not sure yet if it's helping the skin condition I'm taking it for. Fish oil seems to help my skin and reduces cramping during TOM.
  • Does anyone take Cod Liver Oil tablets? I'm thinking of starting to take them just as a basic supplement.
  • I take a multivitamin daily and benefiber since I am doing the South Beach Diet and don't seem to get quite enough fiber.

I totally notice when I don't take my multi vitamin and have to say that the benefiber helps keep me feeling full.
  • A multivitamin with probiotics. The probiotics boost my immune system and stop me catching other people's colds.
  • Quote: I take prenatals and DHA. I have no clue if they're helping or not but we would like to TTC in the semi-near future so I figure it's good to get in the habit.
Me too! I take prenatals (even though I'm neither pregnant nor expecting). They're infused with more vitamins than your average daily multi-vitamin.

(Regardless what you choose, please consult your doctor or nutritionist before taking any kind of supplement.)
