How Can You Lose FAt When Eating Fat?

  • I just don't know how to thank-you guys enough for this little section!! I know it is not JUST directed to me, but I have been on the Atkins site for about a half an hour reading some FAQS--I still have questions and I'm glad you guys are willing to help answer them!!

My next question (don't hit me!!) is when do you know if your burning "old fat" vs. "new fat"? I feel like if I am eating all this fat on the Atkins then I will never get to the "old fat"--is that true??

    Thanks again guys--your the best!!!!

  • To me Old Fat is the fat I had before the last time I fell off the wagon. Let me give you an example:

    I weigh 170.5 right now.
I weighed 167.0 before I fell off the wagon at the holidays.

Until I hit 167.0 I'm burning "old fat". After that, when I'll be burning "new fat".

But that's just my way of looking at it.
  • The fat that you're eating is being used very efficiently while you are in ketosis. You are not burning that up by eating this way. It's the old, entrenched, not-lettin-go-for-anything fat that you're saying goodbye to. Dr. A explains this in his book, but I have to go find it before I quote him wrong. I'll edit later!
  • Guess my answer was way off, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  • Thanks guys!!

I read Dr. Atkins book to--but sometimes things escape my brain and I need it re-implanted!!

    thanks!

  • I would love more info on this subject!
I feel the same way! You have read the books, but still the brain cannot comprehend how eating so much fat helps you burn BODY fat. How do I know that the Keytones I am losing are from body fat and not just the cream I put in my coffee? I know this program works, but it makes no logical sense!
