Breanna, I really feel for you.

I know what it's like to want it so much but to feel completely powerless over food. I think Lori is right. I also think small changes are a good idea too. For me, it's also important to do it one day at a time. Sounds simple and maybe even a little cliche, but it works for me. How about you decide to not have any refined sugar for just one day. It will be tough but wake up in the morning and commit to it. Don't think about all the days ahead. Just one day. Drink lots of water and see how it goes. You may even have a headache as your body will want to force you into having the sugar. There will be temptations but think of how good you'll feel about making it through. Visualize waking up the next morning and knowing that you were able to do it. This will give you strength for the next day and only focus on that next day....and so on.
Regarding calorie counting...I love it and hate it. It's kind of a pain in my behind, but it has also made me have a smaller behind, so it's worth it!

When you started calorie counting, how many were you aiming for? I'd suggest figuring out something that you can live with. Maybe 1200 is just not for you....I know it works for some but maybe you can start with 2200 calories a day? Or better yet, how about a range of say 1500-2200 a day? I'm just making those numbers up, but you get the picture. You just pick a range that won't make you feel like you failed. You will succeed! You will feel good and you will not feel sluggish and with heartburn. I know that feeling and it's harder than counting calories.
No matter what you pick, I think it's important to start with self love. Be kind to yourself. You are not defined by your weight. If you truly love yourself, you won't want to put all that sugar and junk into your body. If you do get that urge, how about some sugarless gum? How about taking a walk? Find things you can do to make it through those tough moments. You can do this!!!!
