Wanting to try something new.

  • So I've considered going to Weight Watchers for sometime.. But everyone tells me it is pretty much the same as what I'm already doing (counting calories/measuring food). I see that right now there is free online sign up.... but our there hidden fees? Like.. sure sign up.. but you're not gonna have access to anything usefull unless you enter your credit card information?

I nibble on the weight watcher snacks/icecream already, LOVE the brownies<3
& I'm pretty good at sticking to diet plans/points if I have a structure.

What do you guys think? Opinions?
    Any input is appreciated.. THANKS!
  • Hi there =)

It is similar to counting calories. It's just another way to track and measure food intake. And it does work. The site has an online community, tons of recipes, all the tools you need to figure out how many points you should be eating, etc.

There aren't hidden fees in the free trial part (that I've seen) HOWEVER, you have to be careful about the billing cycle. If you give your card info there's probably something like "We will bill you unless you cancel by x/x/x date" type thing.

I originally preferred WW for the meetings. (Keeps me accountable in person.) I am ... not quite as big of a fan of the community on the actual website. *shrug* But, the info is good, and so are some of the recipes.

If you're looking to just kinda switch things up and keep mindful, it might be good to transition for a month, see how it works... and then switch back if it's not what you like!

I go with the "can't hurt to try, might do some good". And even if you find out it's not for you for life, you might still find some good information through using it. =)
  • I've been doing it for about three weeks now. It definitely works but you do have to track your points and be very responsible! I love the recipes and little tidbits they have to read on the site. I have only been doing my 10,000+ steps a day with the diet and have lost 12 lbs. Soon I will get back to running and biking so I lose even more and am fit.
  • I've never had any issues with the billing, truthfully; I think weight watchers is pretty truthful. I would watch out for that cancel before...option but it should only be around $17 a month.
  • I've tried calorie counting before and ww is easier in my opinion. It's definitely easier to count to 31 than 1200! There are foods that repeat many times in my tracker, so after a little while I've remembered their points values. If I don't have my phone or computer in the kitchen while I'm making breakfast and packing lunch, I'll pull out a piece of paper and be able to write down the points from memory. If I were counting calories, I don't think I'd be able to do that without looking. Everything is just quick and simple.
