12 WEEK CHALLENGE -- Week #12

  • Here's to a great 12th Week Challengettes!

Melissa thanks for asking I wasn't sure whether anyone would want another Challenge - but boy - I know I could really use it.

New Year's resolutions... what would they be for you?

To take better care of myself. For me that means not only

    Eating more healthily
    Exercising consistently
Limiting my alchohol and coffee intake and increasing my water intake
Being conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth - yep that means journaling consistently
Getting the rest and rejuvination I need on a consistent basis

    But.... also
remembering to reward myself when I do meet the challenge
being aware of what is triggering my overeating behavior. And remembering when I take better care of me I can take better care of everyone else that's important in my life.

Another resolution... continue to move toward my weight goal of 132 lbs. Also to not take life's challenges so seriously.

To remember I'm doing the best I can at this time.

    Patch
  • Patch: Oh please do begin another challenge for the New Year! It's helped me and I'd love to continue on now that the holidays are nearly behind us.

    New Year's Resolutions:

Mine are pretty much the same as Patch's

To take better care of myself first and everything else second.

Eating better & getting a variety of foods that satisfy me as well as visually looking good.

    Walking on a regular basis.
    Increasing my water intake
Being conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth
    Journal more consistently
Making sure I get enough sleep
Making sure I get the necessary protein to keep me satisfied.
To continue to move toward my weight goal of 135 lbs

And finally, to not get upset, angry, disgusted, etc. with veering off the path every now and then. I want to use those little detours as a learning experience.

It sounds like a lot but it's all very do-able.

    Here's to a healthy, happy & successful 2003!

UPDATE: Okay gang, I need to get my rear in gear...I went to a meeting on 12/31 and posted yet another small gain It's time to begin fresh and to move forward. Staying out of the snacks (namely the Chex mix) and being totally honest with my journal is key. I'm also planning on moving more. I have been getting my water in so that's a good step in the right direction.
  • Hi everybody and Happy 2003. Hope the year is good to you and yours and that you had a good Christmas.

It could have been a better one on this end. A good friend and former neighbour of DH's died a few days before Christmas. She was 90, but had been in pretty good health, so it really wasn't expected despite her advanced years. We attended her memorial service last Saturday. Saturday was also the day that I started coming down with a combination stomach flu/head cold which pretty much put me out of commission for the entire week, including New Year's Eve. Needless to say, we didn't do much.

On a brighter note, Patch and Melissa, I am so ready for another challenge. This one is especially well-timed for me, given that we're heading south on vacation the first week of April. I'll have a concrete goal in mind - bathing suit!

I can't add to your resolution lists. They're exactly the same as mine, with the exception of the ideal personal goal weight. Mine is 138. Otherwise, I need to do all of the things that you have already listed. I guess if were to look for a silver lining in my less-than-perfect Christmas, it's that I had no appetite and didn't gain any weight. At least I don't think I did - will weigh in tomorrow at home and perhaps officially on Saturday.

I'll check in on Monday when I return to work and my regular routine.
