Just noticed...

  • I wear Danskos 95% of the time and flip flops 4% of the time. I started wearing these types of shoes because when I was 40 lbs heavier, it was really hard for me to sit and bend over to put on socks and tie my shoes. I HATED sneakers. I would only wear them while hiking with hubby (which was about 2 times a year when we went camping) and I never actually untied them because I couldn't physical sit and bend to re-tie them.

Well, I was putting on my sneakers yesterday for my walk and while I was sitting and bending over I realized not only 1.) could I do it, but 2.) it felt good to do it and 3.) there wasn't nearly as much stomach in my way while doing it and 4.) I was flexible enough to do it! I was sooo happy, I got up and did a dance with my doggies and only 1 shoe on! They probably thought I was nuts...but it made me feel so good! And then when I put on my sneakers for the second time yesterday, I made hubby watch. He was like, yeah...so what? Obviously he never noticed the trouble I had putting on socks and sneakers... But yay for me!
  • Yay! Congrats thats always an awesome feeling with you achieve an NSV.
  • I get you, for reals. It really is the little bits and pieces of the easier life that comes with bits of weight loss that really really matter. I haven't had trouble with my shoes, but painting my toes has been a chore. It's getting better though, day by day, little by little. Keep on keeping on. You're doing great.
  • Thanks ladies!
  • I cant wait until painting my toes is easier. I am about 10" and was about 100 lbs heavier than you. I didnt have problems with tennis shoes....I did sometimes have issues with dress shoes and heels with buckles though. Ive lost bout 40 lbs now and haven't tried to do up my heels in at least a year. Maybe I should try though Congrats on that achievement by the way!
