If so I have a question for you. I only have about 10lbs to lose and this is my first time on WW (did Atkins for the last 5 years).
I am curious from experience of those close to or who have made their goal, when getting this close did you
Use your activity or weekly points every or most weeks?
Anything you had to change to get to goal?
How long did it take you to lose the last 10lbs (I am trying to be realistic)
I know the last 10 are usually the hardest. I usually run 30 to 60 mins- 3x per week and since I am new to the plan I am unsure if using the activity and weekly extra points will help ir hurt my loss, so looking for feedback from others experiences
Thanks
If what's working is working, then keep at it. I lost about 2 lbs a week all the way down to my official goal and beyond. But then I hit a spot about 10 lbs above my real goal where I stalled out. It was largely due to other factors, but I still stalled out.
Your goal may be high enough that it's going to work well for you. If you've set a really low goal, that may be more of a challenge. But again, "low goal" is all relative. It depends largely on your lifestyle and what you're willing to do in terms of eating and exercise habits over the long term.
I know people who, like me, were happy with what they were doing and kept losing once their hit their official goal. It was just working for them, and who wants to stop if you're happy with what you're doing?
So you may fly right by your goal and keep on going. But at some point, yes, the weight loss is going to slow down, and you'll have to decide if you want to push through or simply revise your goal to something that, according to real-life experience, seems to be more reasonable for you.
I am 11lbs away from goal and while some weeks I barely lose a pound, others I lose over 2lbs. I weighed in Tuesday and lost 2.8lbs which I was extremely happy about because I know the running I did paid off.
I run everyday and I try to go a full 60 minutes but some days I'm so tired I can only do 1 single mile. I eat my activity points everyday because I found that when I eat more, I lose. For a while I was running so much and not eating enough so the scale was up and down for a couple weeks. I figured the issue was not eating enough and when I started eating 10-20 extra points, the scale began to move in the right direction. I calculate activity points a bit differently - I have a Polar HRM and for every 100 calories burned I add 1 AP. I burn between 1000/2000 calories per day so I rack up quite a per AP's. Don't be afraid to use them, especially if you're a runner like myself.
Everyone is different, it may take you a few weeks or a couple months to lose 10lbs. It all depends on your body, how strict you are with tracking, and of course your activity level. Don't get frustrated if you see fluctuations, it happens to ALL of us from time to time. I have lost 106lbs and it took me 14 months which I think is absolutely awesome because I suffer from Hypothyroidism and didn't think I could lose at all!
Thanks everyone for the feedback
