  • How often should you wrkout? I hear 4xs a wk frm some trainers. Some ppl wrkout everyday. I wanna lose the weight and keep it off. Rite now I'm doin 7 days a wk 30 mins to an hr a day
  • I recently read that even people who are training hard for things like a marathon NEED a day off at LEAST every 10 days. And that is a day off from everything, even walking. I think that for somebody who isnt in top physical condition would need a little more than that. The days off are when your body can recover and build muscle

  • Yep, definitely give your muscles at least a day off to recuperate. Your workouts will be much more efficient that way.

I aim for some sort of physical activity for at least 30 minutes 5-6 days a week minimum. 3-5 times a week that usually entails 45 minute intensive workouts, but once or twice a week this could be just going for a leisurely walk.

It's awesome you want to include exercise into your healthy lifestyle, so definitely keep it up. Remember though that weight loss (and sustainable weight loss) is virtually entirely dependent on your diet. Exercise is soo important for so many reasons but just make sure you focus especially on your diet to see results. Cheers
  • Thxs indiblue I will definately say the diet for me is the most difficult part but I will really focus on it cuz I really want to see results
  • im kind of the opposite... i walk Tues, Thurs, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I do boot camp Mon and Wed.

seems to work for me.. i might take friday off, but generally i still try and walk everyday. For my day "off" i usually just walk less... 3km instead of 5-8km
  • lucid I think walking every day is just fine, no one would argue that sitting sedentary is better than moving around at least a few minutes every day- sorry if I implied that But as far as hardcore exercising (running, weights), it's important to give the muscles one day of rest every week. Your routine sounds great- boot camp kicks my butt and is such an awesome workout.
  • Oh haha I didn't take it that way don't worry!

I like it, I could do it the rest of my life. I think that's important, for how you choose your work outs.

Well I add jogging in too but that's like one day I add it into the walk.
  • I work out almost everyday...sometimes things happen and I'm thrown off and I just cant get it in....but that is rare

for me it is just a part of my life... like brushing my teeth
  • I usually do 30m-1hr in the morning and then again in the afternoon. Sometimes I change it up and rather than using my gym, I go for a bike ride or walking on the aqueduct.

I do this most days of the week, but occasionally I give myself a day off and veg-out on the Xbox or something similar. I find this gives me motivation to get the most out of my work outs all of the other days, because I feel like I have to compensate for an entire day of mixed progress. The same goes for food, every week or two I have a pizza night. Usually I gorge myself and devour 5-6 slices . Probably not the best idea, but it hasn't hurt my progress yet!

  • i usually work out about 4 times a week, but i also have a job to where im on my feet for eight hours a day, always moving around, so sometimes i feel like i work out every day! lol.

But i hate working out. i mean i hate it, but i don't ask myself if i want to work out, i just do it. Like going to work, i don't like working but i know i have to. sigh. lol.
  • One thought about days off: you can give some muscles the day off without giving others. For example, doing your leg resistance workout mwf, and your arms tthrsat. Or you can alternate resistance and cardio, or however you want to!
  • Thats a good idea. Thxs shadetree
  • I do yoga 3-4 times a week and max cardio 1-2 times a week.
    Around 30-40 minutes.
If i walk, usually an hour or an hour and a half.
I take 1-2 days to rest. Not because I think that i need muscle rest to recover, more like I need the rest to keep me going (because I actually don't like to work out that much ).
  • I workout every day, doing Jilian Michaels 30 day shred and another aerobic exercise every day. After that I think I will do something more manageable, like weight training only 4 days a week...
