  • I haven't really found a happy median yet. I've noticed when I work out every single day, I become so exhausted that I can't function and I'm forced to take a day off. I think I'm going to switch things up a bit. I'm going to continue doing JM 30 day shred and going to take Saturday completely off (which I've already been doing) and Wednesday I'm going to do 10 minutes on my elliptical and then 10 minutes of yoga. Just to give myself a rest a couple times a week.
  • Quote: i usually work out about 4 times a week, but i also have a job to where im on my feet for eight hours a day, always moving around, so sometimes i feel like i work out every day! lol.

But i hate working out. i mean i hate it, but i don't ask myself if i want to work out, i just do it. Like going to work, i don't like working but i know i have to. sigh. lol.
I'm in the exact same position. After lots of lifting/running around all day, one of the few things I want to even think about when I get home is more lifting and running around.

I've found that saving cardio, like the exercise bike, for the afternoon and reading a book while I do it, makes it much more bearable.

  • You've gotten a lot of good answers, but I just wanted to point out that if you don't find working out daily sustainable, then it is ok to work-out less! When I first started, I was working out 5-6 days a week. I was able to keep this up for a few months, but can no longer deal with it! I've gone to 2-3 structured work outs a week and usually fit in push-ups, squats that take just a few minutes that I don't really count as working out on some off days. My sister couldn't keep up working out daily, so she just simply stopped completely

So I guess I'm saying be aware it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Consistency and keeping going is (in my humble opinion) more important than how many days a week you work out in the long run. Obviously there are lots of people who can work out daily for years on end, but I think most people simply can't, and 2-3 times a week is still fantastic!
  • Thx you pinkflower
  • I started with a trainer this week and this is what he told me:

He said to MAINTAIN your weight, work out 3 days a week...

He said to LOSE weight, work out 5-6 days a week.

I'm aiming for 5 days a week so far, maybe I'll add # 6 on soon!
  • I run 3 days a week, and walk 4 days a week. I also do weights 3 days a week and ab work and stretching everyday. I sometimes don't exercise one day. But I never let myself have more than one non exercise day.

I was reading on a website that to maintain your weight you need about ~30 minutes of moderate exercise (moderate exercise being walking 3.0mph) a day to maintain and more to lose.
