I've been on the low-carb diet for 8 weeks. My goal is to stay at 20 carbs a day. I think I've been doing that but I've lost 0 pounds. I haven't gained but I have not lost.
My body type, I'm little: 5 foot 110 lbs and I'd like to be 100.
My diet (with some variations):
Morning: coffee with sugar free creamer, an egg with cheese
Lunch: A salad, lettuce, meat, cheese, veggies, with 2 TB of low carb dressing
Dinner: some sort of meat, a veggie and cheese
Snacks: nuts (flovored ones) I snack on a lot of these, whipped cream (on occasion) with jello
Drinks: Water, a small glass of wine at night, if I'm going out (which is rare) I'll get a long island with diet or vodka with sugar free red bull.
Exercise: Daily doing P90X
Does anyone have a guess or (preferably) know as to why I'm not loosing weight?
How many calories is that adding up to? It sounds like quite a bit- I still count carbs (not doing Atkins) but calories are important to me also so if at 110 lbs you are eating well over say 1500 calories a day that might be your problem.
i agree..nuts are really high in fat and sodium..sodium causes you to retain water and nuts are high in calories...so is whip cream and cheese..just because you are doing low carb, doesnt mean you have to watch calorie count..your body can only burn so many calories without exercise and then anything you consume over what your body can naturally burn, will get stored..so you need to exercise if your body isnt burning it.. i would suggest you use fitday or another calorie counter..low carb doesnt mean no watching calories..its another way of reducing calories..by not eating calories that wont fill you up..count calories and you will lose weight as long as your burning them..
You could also be gaining muscle instead of fat so the scale might not be moving. P90X is intense! I do the videos here and there and am working up to the 6 day a week program. Also, I can personally not eat nuts without stalling or gaining and the same is true with sweetener (like your jello).
What week of P90X are you on if you dont mind me asking? Im just wondrring if I could survive it...
Might sound odd, but maybe you're not eating enough of the right things. Esp if you're working out, your body needs food for fuel or you wont lose weight. Alot of nuts arent good either, eat nuts in moderation.
Being so close to your ideal weight is always harder. Most people who start this diet have 50+ pounds to lose. Thats why there is such dramatic results.
That said, did you lose anything during induction? And is what you are listing typical to what you were eating in induction?
I think your culprit is cheese and nuts. I know for me, personally, if I go over 2oz. of cheese, my loss STOPS. I'm not sure if it's the salt or what. But I STOP. And from looking at your menu, you're consuming cheese at almost every meal! As for nuts, you shouldn't have much of those, either. I'd say 1 or 2oz. And as long as you are on a plateau, you should avoid any and all alcohol. And I agree with the other posters, start a food journal. You will quickly see how many cals, carbs, fat, protein, fiber, etc. you are consuming and after a while, may see a trend. One other suggestion would be to check your body fat. Many times when you are working out hard (especially with a program as intense as P90X), your body fat will keep dropping while you are gaining muscle. If that is happening, your inches will go down, but weight will stay the same since muscle has a smaller volume than fat. And lets face it, you'd probably rather be 110 and be toned and hot, than 100 but look sickly! Good luck and I hope this has helped!
cheese, nuts, alcohol, and excessive caffeine (red bull) will stall weight loss....
