January NSVs

  • Hi Everyone! I was reading another board's NSVs and was thinking us 20-somethings are due for another one! Even if there's only one more week of the month anyway.

For those that are unfamiliar with the term, a Non Scale Victory is anything that makes us feel good about our healthy living and success that isn't specifically tied to the number we see on our scales.

Mine would be that I feel good about succeeding with weightloss! I've done it before, and I'm sure I can do an even better job this time around and make it stick. I'm planning on going to the gym when I get home to solidify this "I CAN DO IT" feeling!

What's everyone else all warm and fuzzy about lately?
  • This might sound really silly but when I'm losing weight I can FEEL it in my face. I know, it sounds crazy. But I always feel like my cheeks are almost a tiny bit tingly.

I re-started two weeks ago and I can feel it!
  • THIS:

Last year, Jan. 8, 2010 this bridesmaid dress was too small on me. I was embarrassed cuz I wore it for my best friends wedding. Now it's so big it literally falls off of me.
  • An older man at work today said, "you've lost weight, haven't you??" Perfect timing because I was in the midst of a poor me, why didn't God give me a fast metabolism that allows me to eat whatever I want moment.
  • I am not eating the yummy dessert that a coworker brought in that is staring me in the face. (Although I am hoping this will help to lead to a SV (scale victory) tomorrow!)
  • My dress pants used to be too tight in the thigh/butt area, and now they fit just right!
  • So glad to see this thread, because I was just about to post my own NSV in a separate thread.

I ran on the treadmill a 6.0 mph for 3 whole minutes today!!!!!

Okay, so not exactly breaking any world records here, but it's the first time I've run in about a year, and even then, I never made it above 5.0 mph during the whole year I tried to be a runner
  • I can slide my jeans on & off without unzipping or unbuttoning They were tight when I bought them.
  • I was a little depressed yesterday - I went to dinner with my dad, 20 pounds lighter than the last time I saw him, and he didn't notice! I was thinking that my weight must be coming off from some strange area that isn't apparent. So when I got home I dug through my "skinny clothes" box to see how far I was from pulling on my favorite pair of jeans. I haven't been able to pull them past my booty in probably a year, and they now fit comfortably!! I wore them today and a coworker asked me if I had lost weight - take that, Dad!! I now think that either 1. He is a man and doesn't pay enough attention or 2. He didn't want to upset me talking about weight (his mom, my grandmother, always brings up how much weight I put on when we have family get-togethers, so I always end up in another room crying with my dad telling me that I look beautiful, blah blah)
