Something weird is going on with me. When I had the flu on Monday, it really didn't feel like the "normal" flu. What I mean by that is I had severe pain in my stomach and right under my rib cage in that little V area.
Well, today I feel the same, minus the throwing up. I am burping all the time, and it comes up with this acidy stuff, but it really doesn't help me feel better. I have a tiny bit of food and it feels like it just sits from the back of my throat down to right under my rib cage. And it feels like it doesn't digest at all. I have NO appetite at all. I had a low fever today again, with chills.
My sister had her gall bladder removed around my age, so it is hereditary. I'm PRAYING a Dr will see me tomorrow especially because I don't want to eat. I guess if my Dr won't fit me in, I could go to an insta care?
But has anyone had anything like this happen before? Does it sound like gall bladder? This is just so not fun at all...

Dunno, but in the mean time, have you tried taking Tums to reduce the acidity/acid reflux you're experiencing?

Gallbladder problems run in my family, too. But it's upper right quadrant pain on your right side, barely up and under your ribcage (when you say V area it makes me think it's your actual stomach causing problems?) and I've never heard of acid reflux-type symptoms being related. It sounds way more like acid reflux, or maybe a stomach ulcer, or something. But. I am NO professional by any means what so ever at all - just taking guesses in the dark. (ETA; I had some similar problems with burping/heart burn/ stomach pain, etc, that they diagnosed as a stomach ulcer. maybe since you're recovering from a flu, that's what it is?)

Hummm yeah see I just have NO clue what's going on. Could be an ulcer. Thank you for the suggestion. I really don't know much about like WHERE I am feeling the pain exactly, so I just don't know what to do to treat it. I haven't tried an antacid...I just wish I could go to the Dr now. :P

Is it sharp immediate pain, or a dull ache?

Is it by your belly button? To the side? Left of? Right of? Above? Below?

Does it feel worse if you press down? What about if you let go after pressing down?

Is it better or worse after eating? What are you eating?


Does it help to sit propped up on pillows?


My belly pain lasted nearly two years straight, comes and goes every couple of months now, and still have no idea what caused it. My ulcer/reflux pills helped temporarily, but then caused it to get way worse and more frequent. Now I just work with my diet and deal with it. But those are the questions they asked me when "trouble shooting", lol

Does your hospital have a nurse line you can phone to ask advice from?

Its not as far down as the belly button. It feels like RIGHT in the V under my rib cage. Right in between my ribs.
It doesn't feel worse when its pushed on, and its really not a pain either. Its like if you ate 2 huge meals right together, it feels like I am full, but all I have had today is half a Subway sandwhich and lots of water....I felt sick this morning before I even ate, but I couldn't pin point it then. It got worse after I ate and that's when the low fever and chills started.
Propping me up or laying down or standing all feels the same, nothing relieves it.
I'm not sure about the nurse line, I will investigate. Thank you for your concern! I am all alone and just worried at the moment....and I find it so strange that I don't feel hungry AT ALL either, thought I should at this point....

This was me with my gallbladder. I hurt if I was standing, sitting or propped up. Worse if I lied flat down. My pain started right in the "V under my rib cage" and almost felt like a really upset or full tummy. It eventually radiated around the left side of my rib cage and settled in the middle of my upper back, while still hurting in the front. I did run a low grade fever. I don't know about the burping all the time, and acid stuff, because I have had gastric bypass. I am, however, a medical assistant and have a little first hand knowledge in this stuff. I would suggest going to the Insta Care if you are still in a lot of pain.

I thought my flu last week was gallbladder problems because it was so weird, and so painful and felt so localized--like you said. I vomited the first day, had that weird blocked/slowed feeling with burps and indigestion type stuff the second. (oh, and a fever and sweats the first 24 hours) . The 3rd day that weird blockage pain stopped, but I still didn't feel much like eating, and my muscles ached from throwing up.

Never had a stomach thing like that before- and don't want it again. But when it stopped, it stopped. I was weak for the rest of the week though.

One of my co-workers had it Monday, and went to the hospital. They said it sounded like gallbladder problems, but the tests didn't show anything, and by the time she had been in the ER for 6 hours she was starting to feel better. (they hydrated her). She is back at work today.

PinkHoodie I'm so sorry your feeling bad sweetie. I am not a medical person but I am the queen of gastrointestinal problems! (Crohns disease, gallbladder disease and removal, intestinal blockage- resulting in removal of a portion of the intestines, appendectomy, stomach ulcers, gastritis, gerd, hiatal hernia) to name a few.
I'm so glad you are going to the doctor tomorrow. He will probably send you to a GI specialist who wil schedule a scan of your gall bladder and may possibly want to do an endoscopy. This will allow the doctor to see the inside lining of your upper digestive tract and stomach. These are very easy test and the endoscopy is a breeze with some comfortable knock out drugs.
You may have gastritis- if so you will be sent home with medication that will nip the problem in the bud!
Try not to worry hun the doctors now are so amazing at treating these problems and helping you to get back to yourself...even better.

I had gallbladder issues while I was pregnant with my second son. I had the same thing as Gelene with the pain. The V area radiating around both sides to my back. I thought it felt a lot like labor pains. The first time I had an attack, my husband was working the night shift, and I called him just positive that I was losing the baby. He could not get home quickly, so he called my neighbors who called 911. When they got me to the hospital and ran tests, they told me it was my gallbalder. It was so bad that I was eating saltines and drinking water towards the end of my pregnacy that they took my son 2 weeks early so they could take out the gallblader. You should get in to see a DR right away....it is no fun and hurts A LOT. Hope you feel better!

I have had gall bladder issues before. One thing I found to help ease it a bit was if I sat in the bed with my legs out in front of me spread apart, knees bent to the side, feet bottoms touching, and my upper body lain down in the space between my legs. It looks like some odd yoga thing, but it's all that helps me when my gall bladder acts up.

Sounds like the acid reflux I used to have. Let us know what the doctor says. You could try some otc acid reducing meds like pepcid and tums until you get to the doctor. Feel better soon!
