Anyone going to be putting on gladrags for the party season. Anyone bought anything new or is there already an item in your wardrobe which you will (you will, you will!!!) fit by the time you need to wear it?

I have a number of rarely worn dresses that fit me now but I must "bite the bullet" and try to lose more, then I will need to go on a spending spree in the new year. Yessss!

I have been shopping today to lakeside and have tried on numerous dresses, size 16. They all looked bloody awful. i am going on a works xmas outing and thought i would treat myself to a new dress as i haven't bought a 'little black dress' for years. They all fitted but just did not look good so i did not buy anything, big sigh. maybe i just wanted to look size 12 and of course dont Hee hee!!
They all looked bloody awful to be truthful, i fancied something floaty and feminine but I looked like a carthorse!! Never mind i will look for a new skirt or make do with an old velvet one I have had a while, and wear a new top. anyone else got a stunning new outfit??

Although I fancy a new outfit I am trying to stop myself spending money on one. I don't go out very often and even over Christmas will only be out at dressy places a couple of times. Probably the works christmas dinner and then I will make an effort at New Year.

Suppose that is one of the joys of having kids, we will be out lots but it will be "tidy casual" clothes wise.

I did treat myself at the beginning of October and need to get my moneys worth out of the blouse. Wore it to the wedding, for the curry last Friday. May be going for a bar lunch with a friend over Christmas could wear it then and me and Ray usually try and escape without the boys for one night, to the beefeater or for a curry, so I could wear it then too.

It is too shiny and glitzy to incorporate into work wear - big mistake buying something you can't wear to work before it gets too big....

Why do I have to always type screeds, a simple no I'm not buying anything new would have done.

I do though have a grey work skirt which I am determined is going to fit me by the end of January - is just to tight at the moment, if I bent down the seams would split - would be ok though if I could stand all day.

Tupperware - nothing wrong with buying a top and a skirt - you could then mix and match. There are (or were last time I looked) some lovely tops and skirts around. Have you looked in Next and Principals and Dorothy Perkins? Another shop I really like is Etam (they do big sizes in some stores). Also New look have large sizes and so do Mark One (I think so anyway). TK Maxx is alright if you like a good rummage.

Smiling Sal - don't get curry down your top! I don;t think I won a to that hasn't had some food down it.. That's what happens when you have a "shelf"..

It is our company christmas do on sunday night (1/12) We are going to a local hotel that are doing a cabaret evening - a four course meal, a rod stewart tribute blokey and disco. DH has bought me a new outfit which i really love (He gave me the money i did the shopping!!) Got a really nice purple velvet dress from evans with a black chiffon sparkly wrap from M & S and some really gorgeous cocktail shoes covered in sequins. I love the outfit and it cost a lot of money but the sad thing is that i hope not to wear it again as i will be smaller but as a director of the company I have to make the right impression!!! (well,that's my excuse anyway)

I went to every shop lakeside had to offer, dreses just don't seem to look right at the moment. I don't feel too bad about it now and hopefully it will keep me on the right track over the festivities cos next christmas i am shopping at Monsoon and am going to buy a glitzy frock, will have to wear it for years to come like but who cares!!
We need photos of our glam get ups for xmas who is going to be first??

Tracey I love the sound of the dress. A few years ago I got a size 18 dress from Dorothy Perkins - a cobalt blue velvet one. I loved it and will be very sad when it is much too big for me. I wonder if it can be taken in but probably not with the velvet pile. Ho hum.

Tupperware I love Monsoon! Never actually bought anything I just go in for a "fix" now and then. They have lovely jewel colours.
