I have the same story as I have told most of my life. I have over 100 pounds to lose, I have started 100's of times and I even lasted a month or so a few times. But now, my story changes here a little. I'm now 70, I've developed a few medical problems and it is getting very difficult to walk. The doctor has told me I have got to lose some weight. I just got on the scales and it said I'm 276 pounds. That's serious. So, I'm going to try to stay on a program and I'm hoping I can get support here.
Miss Prissy...we hear your cry for help. Welcome to the 50+ threads and please join us on the Golden Girls. We all do different diet plans and you'll fit right in. Some of us are close to goal and some have a long ways to go. What plan are you on now? Do you have someone to support you at home? Checking in here everyday will help keep you on plan but the bottom line is you have to keep track of every morsel that goes in your mouth. I use Fitday, they have a free download if you don't want the purchased one with extras. You keep track of all your food on that site and it's wonderful. I've used it for a few years now and it's the best diet tool in the world.
Hope to hear from you again.
Missy Prissy,
I just wanted to say Hi! & Good Luck! I think when losing weight becomes about being healthy, instead of looking good or fitting into a certain size, it's easier to stick to . At least that's how it's been for me. I don't have any health problems yet (not that I know of anyway), but a couple of people close to me do, partly because of excess weight. They can't even walk more than a few feet without getting out of breath & having to sit down to rest. They're only a few years older than me, & not that much heavier than I was. At the rate I was going, I would have weighed as much, if not more than they did, by the time I reached their age. Realizing that finally got me to stop my out-of-control eating.
It's taken me a year and a half to lose 80lbs., & I'd like to lose more, but slow is okay. I mainly eat the same things I always did, just lots less. I do eat more of the low calorie foods that I like. I've found out you don't have to starve to lose weight. That's what I did before because I tried to lose too much too fast. It worked, but I couldn't ever stick with it.
Anyway, I think coming here, even just to read the posts, is a big help. It helps you to stay focused. I really like reading the posts in the weight loss support forum (I've learned a lot from them), & I love the Golden Girls. Just the time it takes to read all the posts is time spent not eating (at least I hope you're not eating while you're at your computer) & every little bit helps!
Hang in there!
Nancy
