  • So it's a new year and a new you (or maybe a new me!). Regular exercise builds muscle and muscle burns fat. It's also great for your mental health and helps stabilize blood sugar. What are you waiting for? Join us in the monthly South Beach exercise challenge! Whether your goal is 10 minutes a day (a great way to get started), yoga and stretching in the morning or you're training for a marathon checking in and being accountable each day can really help you stay on track.


    It's easy - set your goals and then check in and update your numbers each day. You choose your goals and you decide what counts for you.

  • My goal in this new year is 20 more lbs.

    For January, my fitness goals are pretty much the same as they have been. 60 minutes of cardio, 6x per week and strength training 3x per week. I'm going to aim to make 4 of those cardio sessions fitness classes because I get much better results when I'm being pushed!

    10 minutes a day six times a day, adding 10 minutes every week for a total of 40 minutes a day
  • I should get my own goal in here. I'd love to increase it but realistically if I can hit 1000 minutes/month through the winter that would be great. Between the crazy work hours, the cold weather and health annoyances a higher goal is probably unrealistic (though I'd be happy to hit it!).

  • I'll jump on this. I got a fancy pedometer for Christmas, so my goal will be to walk 10,000 steps three times a week. Of course, I am going to try to reach 10,000 steps each day.

  • I want to start doing beginners yoga. My doctor recommended it for my stress and all the pains I have in my back. She says it just does overall wonders for the entire body and mind. Nothing too advanced, just beginners. I know it's cliche but along with losing weight, improving eating habits and getting in shape, I want to take up yoga.

    I'm in on the New Year's Challenge.

    January goals: 1000 minuets of exercise, 10 minuets of yoga each morning once I get my DVD.

  • I am going to shoot for 25 miles walk/run (C25K) and 240 minutes of weight lifting (30 min X 2 a week). Hoping this is enough to see some results.

  • I'm bumping my goal up to 2400 minutes for January!!! I've got a 5K on January 15th (I registered early this morning...no backing out NOW, LOL) that will help!!!

  • I'm in for a goal of 1,000 minutes split between walking and weight training.
    Goal = 1,000 Goal met for the 3rd month in a roll!

    3 = 45 I'll tell you one thing, if it wasn't for this challenge, I wouldn't be doing this. Would have talked myself out of it. So 3FC does help!

  • Sounds great! My goal is to average 5x/week. I'll be traveling during the last week of January, but I'll book hotels with gyms when possible! The BF and I joined our local gym, so this will motivate us to get into the habit of using it!

  • I don't set minute goals because they make me feel inadequate since I'm lots older than you chickies and not in very good shape. I have committed to going to the gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will do treadmill, core, strength and stretching for just over an hour.
    M3 - Did it and BP 114/75 at finish
    W5 - Yes!
    F7 - Felt cruddy but still did it
    M10- Sore knees but modified routine and did it
