new and overwhelmed

  • Hey there, I'm Schy. 20 years old from Knoxville, TN! I am so ready to make a massive change in my life.

I have always had some sort of trouble with my weight for as long as I can remember. I was picked on as a child, and as I grew older, the habits I had learned then had stayed with me until this very day. When I was 17, I went on a huge "diet" and lost 35 pounds in 3 months but in a very unhealthy fashion. I would not eat over 600 calories in a days time and I would work out every day in the gym for over an hour. I realize now this was very unhealthy and knew if I had stopped, I would gain all my weight, plus some, back. Which is exactly what happened. I gained about 50 pounds back, and then I was 18, I became pregnant with my son, Jackson, and gained 30 more pounds. So, here I am. Six months later, with all my weight still on me. All 250 pounds of it.

I am so ready to make a change, but I'm so overwhelmed on even where to begin! I work a full time job in a call center, so I am basically sitting on my big hind end all damn day, and my work schedule is so screwed up that my eating habits are crap! I work 11 am - 8 pm so it's hard to find time to exercise, considering I am up at 7:30 with my son, getting him ready, then I get ready, go to work, come home, spend some more time with my son, then it's bed time for us. I just can't see how people can loose weight with a schedule. So any tips are mucho appreciated.

I need to make this change not only for my happiness, but for my health and for my son. I don't want to be winded when my son wants to play and I dont want him to see me shoveling crap down my throat.

help! And oh yeah, hi. And I'm real stoked on finding this website.
  • Been there done that. All of it

I found that incorporating my kids into my daily routine helped A LOT. Your son is young and lucky to have such a mom!

Start now, showing him by example, take him for walks, run with him in the park, pick him up and dance with him for half an hour, make exercise time be play time, eat and feed him healthy nutritious foods. As he gets older, you will find more ways to incorporate everything with him.

    Good luck!
  • Dancing with your baby sounds wonderful! singing, dancing, laughing. Fun, fun, fun!
  • Good luck, there is light at the end of the tunnel!
  • Hi, I have many physical problems. So working out for me is painful. I slowly added movement each day in my life.

I started this journey at 227, I am 182 now. I have a ways to go, but adding the movement really made a difference.

I actually get up earlier now to get my movement. My children see this and love the sparkle the house has. (the house sparkle took weeks) I monitor my body and when I feel tired, I stop. I also work 40 hours a week, so Adding this to my life was a difficult challenge.

but it is working. Slow progress, but good progress. Thank you for sharing and I wish you the best in your journey back to health.
  • Kids learn by example, and you want to be in the best shape possible to keep up with your son who probably has tons and tons of energy. Your schedule is busy, but you can multi-task on a lot of things! Park your car a 15-minute brisk walk away from work/the store - that's 30 minutes of walking. Do squats while you blow dry your hair or wait for dinner to cook.

Really, food is the biggest factor in weight loss, so as long as you are eating within a weight loss calorie range you will lose weight. I hope you are successful - 3FC is really supportive and great for the good and bad days alike.

I have family all over Blount County so I'm somewhat familiar with Knoxville!
