  • I have noticed that the carbs in a lot of the packets are going up. Does anyone have any insight into why they are doing this? I just purchased the chocolate pudding and it is now 7 carbs was 3, vanilla now 3 was 2, orange drink now 4 was <1. Any cause for concern? Will this slow our weight loss down? Thanks for your opinion in advance!
  • I thought I saw somewhere on one of the daily threads that they had reformulated a lot of the packets to make it easier on people just starting on the program. I would be inclined to think that yes, it will slow weight loss down or affect other things you eat if you are trying to limit yourself to x number of carbs...
  • I'm not buying the chocolate pudding anymore because of this, and have buying the EAS chocolate drinks instead.

    Your loss, IP!
  • I imagine there is a lot of $$$ tied up into the science of this diet. It would be foolish for Ideal Protein not to keep up with scientific findings about the human body and how carbs and proteins affect overall health.

For the same reason a person throws away their diets books from the 80s saying to remove all fat from your diet. It is no longer a scientifically sound way of eating. In fact it's harmful.

If IP decides that carbs must be increased in their packets it must be for a very good reason. I'm sure this method of dieting has morphed over the last 30 years. Especially since 30 years ago scientists hadn't even determined all of the amino acids required by an all protein diet to even make it healthy.
  • Is there a post somewhere with the new nutritional data for the packets?
  • I thought it was just the chocolate pudding that was changed. Does anyone have a list of what has been changed?
  • The wildberry yogurt is going from 5 to 14 carbs. If this is the case, I would assume that the yogurt would now be a restricted item. However, my coach said not to worry about it.
  • I asked my coach if he had a listing/chart for the new packets. He didn't, but he said he was going to some big IP meeting and he was going to ask.
  • Linda, if you could pass that info on to us when you get it I am sure it would be greatly appreciated!!
  • I would also think the Wildberry Yogurt would be on the resticted list if it is going up to 14 carbs.

Did your coach say why there is no need to worry about the jump in carbs? That is a huge jump in my opinion.

No, she didn't say. She is someone who did IP herself last winter and she and her mom run the program out of their beauty salon/spa. They had to get approval from IP to not do it out of a dr's office. So, in a lot of ways, I don't think she is as informed as other coaches. But, I've decided to stop getting yogurt because of the carb thing...
  • I'll be seeing my coach tomorrow, and she is very active in IP --going to the convention as a special guest, I will see if she can give insight!! Post tomorrow

I agree, I won't be buying the yogurt anymore either.

That would be great. I will wait to here from you!
  • I think the plain Greek yogurt I buy at Kroger has less carbs! I usually mix two or three tablespoons of that with a teaspoon of peanut butter for a great snack.
