Hello, I am new here and I need a buddy. Someone to count on, someone to count on me and definately someone who understands. I am married and have a toddler (you think she would make me skinny!).

I have decided with recent tragedys I experienced, it's time for me to be selfish and work on myself.

It is always time to work on ourselves! However being a mom myself, I totally get how hard it is to be "selfish". Really once you think of it as doing something for your daughter, and your husband..it makes it much easier. It is only fair that they have the best mom and wife possible. So that means taking care of yourself. Yanno?

A kind of unexpected side effect of my changing habits, is that my son came up to me the other day and said "Mom you know what I have noticed? I have noticed that since we are eating better, you are less grumpy and are more fun to hang out with" Let me tell you, that almost brought tears to my eyes. Seriously. I knew that I was unhappy and uncomfortable before, but to have it recognized by my son was just the kick in the butt I needed. So to speak.

Lazy: your son's comment made me cry! So sweet (the hormones don't help the crying either). Kids keep us going and I would not have made it through the last few months without my daughter, she makes me want to get out of bed everyday.

yeah jilly you are right. There have been many times in my life that the only reason I get out of bed is because of the kids. We as parents, but especially as women just do not have the luxury to roll over and give up yanno? And because we do not, because we push through and make it work, we a lot of the time do not pay attention to what is most important. Ourselves. So 50-60-100lbs later, we stop and have to look at what happened. The best gift we can give our loved ones, and our selves...is ourselves.
