Tuesday Chat

  • Welcome ladies and gents. Two more days before Friday comes around. I have a goal of hitting 44lbs lost by December and I'm well on my way. Hope u had a safe trip home Debbie!
  • Good morning, everybody. No court yesterday, so I'm assuming that I'll get the call today to come in to testify. 10 years I've been able to avoid testifying...they always plead out beforehand. I don't think I'm gonna be so lucky this time. *sigh*

Got some steaks marinating for dinner tomorrow night and I'm going to make some sweet potato fries w/ some sriracha sauce. YUM!!! I'll have to be more careful than I was today...I sliced my pinky finger open using my mandolin to slice my apple today. OUCH!!! Guess there's a reason for that little guard they give you, huh??? Lesson learned.

Anywho, I guess that's all I got for now. Hope you ladies have a great day!!!
  • Good morning, Natasha. FO, I hope you are sleeping. Thanks for starting us up.

I'm back to my dumb 5 a.m. wake-up habit. That's OK in summer but not now when it's so dark and cold. Pretty soon it'll be woodstove time but I'm hoping to hold off on that until after my trip. We had the threat of frost last night - I am worried about my green beans which were in bloom yesterday.

Today Claire and I work the Good Food Box and then I plan to go to town to buy some chrysanthemums for the village planters. They need perking up before Thanksgiving weekend. No pet therapy today or other meetings so I may get lots done.

Hope your day is as good as mine is going to be.
  • Good morning!

I fell asleep on the couch after supper last night so I've been rushing around this morning doing things I SHOULD have done last night. I do feel more rested though.

I'm off to my early playground duty - have a very nice Tuesday friends!
  • Good morning!

Okie, thanks for starting us up today, even though it was pretty darned early. With your new determination, I'm sure you'll reach your goal by December. Have a wonderful day, and good luck!

Natasha, I'm wishing you luck that you won't get that phone call this morning. I've only been called to jury duty once, and it never went to court, but I have a feeling that my name is going to come up again soon. Be careful with that mandolin, ouch! After almost cutting off my thumb on that thing, I always use the guard now. Your mention of sweet potato fries reminds me that I should make some butternut squash fries to go with my portobello burger for tonight's supper.

Ruth, it sounds like you have a nice day planned. I love mums and made some cute arrangements with them and some mini pumpkins and gourds in the planters on my front steps. Have fun choosing your flowers and planting them around the village this afternoon!

It's a chilly morning on this last day of summer, but we're supposed to warm up later, and tomorrow they're calling for temps in the 90s for the first day of autumn! I have a load of sheets in the washer and Jake's supper in the oven, and it smells so good. The girls have gymnastics after school today, so after I drop them off, I'm planning to run over to the supermarket for a few groceries before it's time to pick them up. I got mixed up, and Cindy doesn't leave until next Wednesday for her trip, thank goodness. That means I'll have this Friday off.
Well, I'm going to sit and eat my oatmeal with chopped apples and have another cup of coffee.

Enjoy your last day of summer!
  • Good morning ladies.

I never got a bike ride in yesterday. My DH decided to adjust my gears (which had been a bit off) right before our ride. 4 hours later it was probably working well enough to ride but way too hot outside. Beware a man with tools who knows just enough to be dangerous! Will either ride today or do a strength class at the gym. Coffee later with a girlfriend I have not seen in ages. Errands.

    Have a great day all
  • Good morning It's a late start today. After logging 7 miles on my pedometer and 16 on my bike (1/2 into a 10 mph head wind) I was ready for a good night's sleep. The weather continues perfect and we are having a great time. Yesterday was our first day without company, very relaxing.

Okie - You are definitely on a roll

Natasha - hope they decide to plea without calling you today. I'll second Cottage's warning. I love my mandolin but made a similar mistake early on. Use the guard!

Ruth - We had a frost warning at home too. How are your beans?
Those good food boxes sound great. Hope your day exceeds your expectations

Heidi - sleep can be a very good thing.

Cottage - It won't be so warm here but low 80s sounds pretty nice at the beach. Will you be staying with the girls when their mother is gone?

Karen - hope you get a ride in today!

Hmm, time to figure out what we want to do today. Maybe a drive around Cape Ann, maybe just an easy day on the deck.

    Happy Tuesday friends
  • Good Morning

Thanks goodness for the daily thread or I would have a hard time figuring out what day it is. We rolled in at 1130 last night and I got 7 hrs of sleep. I've decided that this particular drive is far better going West to East. I'm glad to be home. Today will be getting reorganized. I hope I can get everything put away before water aerobics. I stuck pretty darn close to my food plan, so thankfully I don't have any damage control to deal with.

    Take care everyone!
  • Thanks friends! I'm very appreciative of the love and support I've gotten here!
  • Good Morning Ladies! Well, I got my pressure washing done yesterday, new furniture being delivered today(YEAY!) and I have tried to clean up the old furniture so I can sell it but may just drop it at goodwill... I would love to get a bit of money for it but don't really want to spend anymore time on it and as of this afternoon I will have too much furniture in the livingroom! lol I think I will order my hardwood flooring today- I got a 10% off coupon from home depot and figure I better use it with the sealer I have to buy for the aggregate so I may as well order the flooring at the same time and save a nice chunk of change. I just hope I measured everything right and can get it installed myself. Dh said he didn't want to do it. gee, thanks. He would rather pay someone and I don't think I would if I can do it myself! Anywho- I am gearing up for a bit of cleaning now... counting down to the beach! Can't wait!
  • Hello again, ladies. I've got a belly full of steak, sweet potato fries, and sugar snap peas...now I'm just waiting for the new season of Glee to start at 8!!! Any other Gleeks on here???

Found a credit card laying in the Kroger parking lot last night, so I had an officer drop by and pick it up today after I filed a report w/ our telephone report unit (we call it Teleserve). I thought I would save a patrol officer from having to do a report but it turns out that they still have to write a stupid miscellaneous report saying they picked the card up. How stupid is that!?!?!? Oh well.

Ruth - Eeek...0500??? I am not a morning person AT ALL...God bless those of you who are!!! In my line of work it's a blessing being a night owl b/c nobody seems to want nightshift and I never have to fight for it. LOL In the 10 years I've been at my job the only time I've been on day shift was to fill in for someone who fell through their attic ceiling and then the few months I had to rotate between days and nights as a supervisor. Thank God that's over with!!! Hope your green beans are okay!!!

Heidi - Our couch sees a lot of naptime, as well. Glad you're feeling more rested!!!

Cottage - Thanks...no phone call today either. I guess I should check the DA's website...maybe he plead out after all. Or maybe they decided they didn't need me. I mean, all we do is say "yes, that's me that answered the phone...yes, that's a true and accurate record of the phone call as I remember it" and that's about it. I think I'm the only person in the world that would actually LOVE to have jury duty...LOL I've never been called, not once. *shrugs* I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that's made the mistake of not using the guard. Man, that blade is SHARP!!! Yanno...common sense should tell us that the guard is there for a reason, right??? But noooooooo...I'm so much smarter than the manufacturers. LOL

Waisting - I guess I'm not the only one still stuck w/ hot weather, huh??? It was 97 yesterday...93 today. But man, come nightfall it feels GREAT outside!!! Hope you had a nice time w/ your old friend.

Cyndi - Wow...23 miles of walking and biking??? You're PHENOMENAL!!! And yes ma'am...I think I have learned my lesson w/ the mandolin now. LOL

rdw - Ooooh, new furniture...how exciting!!! I'm not being sarcastic, either...I looooooooooooove getting new furniture!!! If you do donate to Goodwill, you can always write it off on your taxes. It's win/win!!! Good luck w/ the flooring. I'm very fortunate that my older brother is the best wood and tile man in our city...getting him over here to do the work is another story!!! He's done the tile in both bathrooms as well as the back porch and the wood floors in the living room, foyer, study, and hallways. I'm betting after all that tiling and grouting you'll do just fine w/ the flooring.

Anywho...2 more minutes until Glee is on. I'll try to revisit the thread again later.

Me Just finished the first season last week. Not sure when I'll watch though; I record everything. Hubby and I just sat down for some of the new Monday night shows.

Yayyyyyyyyy!!! I missed some episodes along the way, but I've seen most of them. I looooooooooooove me some Puck. He needs his mohawk back, though.
