GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It is going to get up into the 80's here today ~ not bad at all. We are getting things ready to move down the road. Also waiting for a date to be set for Cowboy's gall-bladder extraction. He is sure looking great now that he is off all those antibiotic meds that were making him sick. We have some errands to run this day and I think I will weigh in while out and about because I want to do some packing this evening. The packing isn't much but I have stuff on the shelf tha runs around under the cupboards that I take down when we move and also my books.

BUBBLES isn't that the way of it that when you see a WW member out eating they feel guilty. You aren't the food police and after all on the WW program one can eat anything! Yep my mustang is a little foal. The doc that last looked at Cowboy said he had been bucked off just one too many horses which probably resulted in his sub capilary hematoma. So much for the "bash on regardless" rodeo days. He never had to be carried out of the arena ~ always walked out ~ then collapsed..... especially the time he tore all the ligiments loss in his leg and cracked his pelvic bone in 3 places. I would say he hit the ground hard enough to cause that sub capilary hemotoma.

Life is good and I am now going to get dressed so we can go out among em. Have a great day all ya'll.

I stopped in at the place I had weighed in a couple of weeks ago when the scales showed me 6 pounds down when I just removed one shoe ~ remember that story? Anyway when I just popped in to be wieghed the man to calibrate the scales was at work on them there. I got a good laugh because I am the one that reported them out of whack. But I was happy to be the first to be wieghed on them after he finished making them "true." I didn't stay for the meeting but since we are through running around for the day I can go to my regular meeting this evening.

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's been another beautiful day in my corner of the world . . . I wish it wasn't getting dark so early these days! My piles at school were not as huge as they could have been as some of the others took on some of my work this past week when there was no sub to be found. It was a long day and I think bed will be pretty inviting early tonight!

Gloria -- A turkey dinner sounds yummy! I'm sure the grandkids will have a wonderful time together!

Maggie -- My last perm was in May right after school got out. It was way too tight so lasted a long time with our humid summer. I hope your move goes smoothly and without any problems. I'm glad to hear that Will is feeling better.

Bubbles -- You and I are on the same wave length! When I am rich and famous I plan to have a cook too! One of my coworkers loves to cook and jokingly says she would like to start a neighborhood meals-on-wheels of sorts. I told her I'd be her first and very best customer!

Your neighbor's idea of meals on wheels sounds like a real winner.........I could donate paper plates I sure wouldn't offer to clean as a trade! My sainted lady who helps me clean was here today, and just about did me in! For starters, she probably doesn't weigh more than 105 wringing wet, and is younger than I. However.......I decided the time had come to rotate the oriental in the dining room. We removed all the furniture except the Sideboard, and I lifted that sucker while she pulled the carpet out. We did it, but it probably took us close to three hours, and I was knee walking when we finished! She was still going strong In all the confusion I've lost my car keys, which of course have everything I own on them. They'll show up soon, I hope. I do have a spare. I'll go through the car tomorrow.........didn't have time today, Dot was working me too hard

It is a lovely day to do some sorting through some things to see if I want them. If I don't use something in 6 months than do I really need to keep it.....

JEAN sounds like you are due for a perm then if it was way back in May. What style do you put it in after your perm? Remember Jan? She is now a personal chef and goes to peoples houses and cooks meals and pops them in the freezer for their week.

BUBBLES that is great that you have someone to come in and help you clean. What a good thing for you.

It is really feeling like fall. We had a delightful, cool, sunny day on Monday which was just perfect. I mean the kids could play outside!!! We had a lovely gettogether and everyone showed up except dd#2 who had to work in the OR at Mass Gen.
Even the 18yr old came for lunch and then left to do home work.
DD#3 brought down a nice Holly bush from her yard and they planted in ours. It looks good. Tomorrow it will be and wind and a good day not to do anything.

MAGGIE: Congrats on the loss. But, of course I know that would happen. OOOh! I would love to have a personal chef. Even if only once or twice a week. MMM, do you think Jan would deliver to MA! I'll bet you will be happy when this move is done and you are all settled in your new spot. Good luck!

JEAN: I haven't had a perm since I was a teenager.....too far back to really remember. I had one of those home jobs. Now my hair is so short it doesn't need anything but wash and dry!!

BUBS: That is much too strenuous cleaning for me. I just about manage to dust, vac and other light stuff. Hope you find your keys. I know if you have lost your car you can beep it with your key but don't think that works in the reverse. Maybe you need the wizard!

That's about all I remember from college French class
The Iron Monster was good to me this week.........down 3.2# I had to do the math twice to be sure it was correct! That puts me at -36#..............not much to show for 18 months, but I'll take it. Must be all that cleaning we did yesterday, cuz I sure didn't do much today. I did sprinkle pelletized lime on the front yard before the rain started, but that's about it. His Highness the Spoiled Beagle doesn't do rain, so he goes out long enough to do what needs to be done, and we're back inside in jiff time.
It's cold and raw tonight........definite a wintery feeling time.
Just stopped at the WW site and saw some neat winter squash recipes. I'm going back later to make copies.
Oh, our hospital At Work group was in the paper yesterday, complete with picture! I'm thrilled for everyone.
My friend, Viv, just returned from 4 days of hiking on the Appalachian Trail and gained 1.5#............go figure.
Just finished a no brainer novel, but the final quote is worth repeating:
You are never given a wish
without also being given the power
to make it true.

You may have to work for it, however.

Sounds like a pretty good philosophy for all of us Magnolias who are fighting the good fight.

I'm on my way to bed but wanted to say "good night" -- it's nice to see so many posts since I was here yesterday!

Bubs -- I used to have a cleaning gal who had energy to burn. She really enjoyed cleaning and it showed because she'd do the little extra things without ever being asked. The one I have now just hits the high spots and sometimes misses a few of those. She only comes every other week so I try and do the in between and dig a little deeper. It's a good feeling to have it done . . . I wish I could get my whole house "done" at once. I hope you have found your keys by now; I've been there and done that a few times too. CONGRATULATIONS on the wonderful loss! {{HUGS}} The quote is very appropriate, I think! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Maggie -- This time I got a body perm rather than curls. My hair has enough wave (?) to it that if it is cut right I don't have to do much to it. I can't wear it short and straight because it won't go straight. I wish I could wear it long and done up but I haven't the patience to let it grow beyond the "drive me crazy" stage. I don't think I ever knew Jan . . . was she a Cutie? I could never cook for anyone else as a career; I'd be a wreck!

Gloria -- Did you cook your leftovers all together in the oven or did you put them in the microwave? Sometimes I think it's faster to just put them in the oven and I don't have to watch them as closely. I'm glad you had a nice time with your family.

Just a another quick "good night" from Iowa. I don't know where the evening went but I am ready to head for bed. We did get snow showers that lasted for several hours. It melted as soon as it hit the ground, which was good! It's been a windy, cold, and gloomy day.

I just have to tell you a wonderful story. It is both heart warming and heart wrenching at the same time. Last May, while delivering papers a young boy of 13 ,who lives around the block from us, felt a strange tingling in his body and within an hour he was paralized from the next down. It is a spinal cord infection. Since that time he has been hospitalized and stablized. He came home today! He came home in an ambulance escorted by 3 motorcycle policemen all the way from the hospital in Boston. There were at least 150 people out in front of his house to welcome him! School chums including the cheerleaders, in uniform, and posters and placards of all kinds. Yesterday was his birthday so many said Happy Birthday! The local and Boston TV stations covered his homecoing. We just saw the interview on the news about this and he said, "I will work hard to get better but if it doesn't happen I guess I will just get on with my life." This from a 13 yr old. I am sure he and his family have a long hard road ahead but if this is their attitude they will make it.

It was such a beautiful day and as he left the ambulance a cheer went up from the crowd and all the balloons the kids held were let go. I know I will never forget today.

MAGGIE: Good luck on your move. Get back to us when you can.

JEAN: I know the SNOW melted but I don't even want to think of that word. As for the leftovers I used the microwave as it was just the two of us. I made up a dinner plate for each and heated it that way. I often use the oven and I agree you don't have to watch it so carefully that way.

BUBS: GREAT LOSS!!!!! Yesterday it rained here and I am grateful that it is not I who walks the neighbor's dogs. Like your Beagle I don't like the rain.

I'm just the opposite of youall, Jean and Gloria, if I can't nuke it, we don't eat it! I've discovered how to do most vegetables in the microwave, and I really prefer them that way. Actually, I might use my oven more frequently were it a tad bit more reliable. I can't wait to replace it.

I went by the Jr. High today to visit my buds and to drop off pop can tabs for the Ronald Mc Donald House. The science classes were having a pumpkin drop contest from the bleachers at the high school. Their assignment was to wrap/protect a pumpkin any way they chose, and then drop it onto an "X". The team which got the closest to the X without smashing their pumpkin was the winner and gets to go on to the Statewide pumpkin drop in Charleston, WV. It was fun to see what some of the kids had done. It was not fun to see how obnoxious some of the kids still are, and how the language seems to have deteriorated. These kids didn't know me from " a sack of salt", and the sexual innuendos, etc. were repulsive. No pride, and nothing is sacred.......and this from 12 and 13 year olds. I was watching something the other night on MTV as I was channel surfing. Everyone was drunk, and the girls looked and acted like slluts on the dance floor. Unfortunately, the Jr. High kids aspire to be just like them. Scary.
We may have some flurries tonight. I bought some Chrysanthemums at the nursery today.......half price:~} and figured I'd best bring them in for the evening.
Off to walk the Beagle King.

While I try to decide what to wear tomorrow, I will chat with you. It was a very long day today; I thought the afternoon would never end and then I had a nail appointment for a new set of nails. I got a different gal who is to graduate in 2 weeks, as a nail tech, and it took her 3 1/2 hours to do 8 nails! Needless to say I was about ready to fall asleep in the chair . . . there are only so many things you can talk about! She has a loonnngggg way to go both in speed and the end results!

Maggie -- I hope your move went without a hitch and you are back online asap!

Gloria -- What a scary thing that happened to your neighbor boy! I do hope he makes a complete recovery. Do the doctors give any prognosis or is it a "wait and see" situation? Sad! It was nice that all of the people were there to welcome him home.

I need to go find something to wear tomorrow -- this in-between weather is something else; I try to dress in layers so that I can put on or take off, depending on what room I happen to be in. Today we had no heat at school but it wasn't really that cold. It would have felt good to take the chill off first thing this morning though.

Hi Bubbles!
You posted while I was typing! I know what you mean by the language -- our problem is that most of the kids speak and/or understand Spanish while most of the faculty and staff do not. We put our 5th and 6th graders in with the 7th and 8th -- middle school concept, you know. I personally think the older kids are a bad influence but what do I know? My kids were enough older that they went to the old jr. high so we were never involved with the new school. I do know when the 8th graders come up to the high school they are not ready and it's a big adjustment for most of them.

I'M HERE ~ BUT ONE WILTED MAGNOLIA......

We got moved and I have put everything back up that I took down so it wouldn't get broken. Got phone service and am happy about that. The dish man is coming tomorrow morning to hook up Cowboy's satelite dish and tune it in. I ate too much today so have to trade for tomorrows high day points. Good thing I can do that so my week isn't a total shambles.
