Those experienced with C25K...

  • I just completed w1 d1 today. What I'm wondering is, what did you all do on your day between? I live a very sendentary life, so no exercise really isn't an option for me. But I do want to give my body a chance to recover between. I was thinking about doing Walk Away the Pounds, but the DVD I have is a bit more intense. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!
  • I exercised 6 days a week right through C25K, but only ran on the 3 days it said and was fine. I had been going to the gym for sometime before starting the programme so was already into exercise, but I'd say doing the dvd is a great idea. If your legs do feel really tired one day though just take a gentle walk, your body will be telling you it needs to rest. Good luck with the rest of the programme, doing it completely changed my view of myself. I went from feeling like someone who was just exercising to lose weight, to an athlete, all be it a beginner lol and I feel SO strong when I run.
  • I agree with Loving. I think a walk on the other days sounds great. I personally did Spin class 3 days and running 3 days. I like daily cardio.
  • Thanks for suggestions! I will be sure to listen to my body!
  • When I started C25K I was very out-of-shape. I mean, like ridiculous. I tried doing a Jillian Michaels DVD on my off days the first week, and I was in so much pain I couldn't move. (And I have a high pain tolerance...I was not just being a wimp!)

So I just rested on rest days. In W5 I added in just the ab portions of the DVD and about 15 minutes on a stationary bike on my rest days. I was a little sore, but not unbearably so.

I think you just have to figure out what your fitness level is and determine what works for you.
  • I started C25K a few weeks ago, when I first started I'd be a little sore during the days in between, so I stuck to light walking outside, or when it was too hot, went through some Walk at Home DVDs.
