  • Hello Jess!

Last time I went to the doc my measurements were 34-26-35. I am 5'5 and weigh 138. Body fat percent at 25.5. I too would like to lose some more inches and weight. I would LOVE to weigh what you weigh!! But like you said, everyone is different.

Congratulations on getting to maintenance! What an accomplishment!
  • I am 5' 3 1/2" and 32-23-32.
  • I'm at 31-26-31. I've always had a big tummy from naturally being apple shaped though so I'll never have a really defined waistline.

I started doing 30DS during the last month of my weight loss phase and it made such a difference! During that month, I lost about 5 lbs and an inch from my whole torso - my chest, waist, and hips.

I still do it a couple times a week now, along with No More Trouble Zones and some Turbo Jam.

What I have found that helps with shrinking your stomach, is eating lower carb. But I am not really a fan of that becuase for me personally, its not sustainable. Exercise will always help but I think diet is key
  • I don't think low-carb is necessary, but I do think restricting bad carbs is necessary. Good carbs like whole grains and vegetables give you energy, fuel for your workouts and your day. These foods also have a ton of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

That said, I do think some people are more sensitive to carbs than others. But, for most people, I think it's all the sugary carbohydrates that cause problems. And, by this, I do not mean fruit, which is another carb that is good for you. I'm talking refined sugars, which include not just candy and dessert and the like but also white bread, white pasta, etc. These foods have little to no nutritional value, cause cravings, have been linked to expanding waist lines, and generally are a hindrance to weight loss for many if not controlled.

Plus, I think low-carb eating plans are harder to stick with for a lot of people than are eating plans that are simply low in bad carbs.
  • Working the largest muscles in your body does wonders for fat loss. You can't target where you lose fat—that part is genetic—but you can make your body into the best fat burner it can be, and one way to work toward this is to push the big muscles in your body hard. The bonus here is that the exercises that accomplish this—squats, lunges, deadlifts, etc.—also work your core.

Ab exercises are useful as well, in my opinion. But you won't see the hard work you have put into your abs until you eat clean and eliminate the fat.
