Has anyone ordered from www.shabbyapple.com and do you have any reviews for them?

They have plus and maternity sizes as well as regular sizes, and they're labeled as "true to size" and "fits generously." I don't understand their sizing. Their women's large fits a waist from 42.5 to 50 inches. That's a whopper of a range. Perhaps they're adjustable in some way?

They don't have a lot of dresses that I think would be particularly flattering on my body type, but they do have some nice looking things. There are a few I might like to try, but I had some questions on the sizing so I thought I'd check here first.

No experience with them. I don't buy clothes on line. "True to size" is a hack. I'm a different size everywhere, and all the size charts are the same. Meanwhile, a friend of mine told me she used to be a solid size 12, in pretty much all brands. I quite like the flirty skirt on the main page, though.

A waist range of 42.5-50 inches could suggest a gratuitous use of elastic. However, in general, the larger the size the greater the range within the size. That means that the size WL, if it is not elastic, has a FIXED waist of 50 inches and therefore is big enough to fit anyone with a waist of 50 inches or below. It stops at 42.5 on the chart because the WM max waist is 42.5 . This is why, starting from higher weights, it can take 30-40 pounds to drop a single size.

The larger the size, the bigger the range. That way less sizes can cover a larger territory (increasing waist size) without making a new size every two inches like standard sizes. While there is a bottom limit to how small a waist can get, there isn't really an upper limit, and companies just can't/don't want to pay for such a wide range of sizes, as manufacturing costs would skyrocket.

I can remember when a size 12 was a rare thing to find...and I'm only 37. I have been my full height since I was about 13, only back then I was a "fat" 135 pounds and finding a size 12 (which was a tight squeeze) at The Limited was like finding gold. Doesn't matter what it is, snatch it up in every size!

It's crazy how much things have changed in what I consider to be a fairly short time.

It's also nice to have an explanation of why it takes so darn long to lose a size when you're in plus sizes. Thanks for that!

I haven't ordered from them, but I do love to browse their site. I've often wondered the very same thing about the sizing.
