I'm new here

  • I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks but thought I would come out and introduce myself. I will probably be around for awhile.
    I originally started this diet June of 09 and lost 70 pounds. I sort of went crazy during Christmas and didn't look back. After gaining back 20 I knew it was time to get serious and get this weight off and really commit to changing how I eat when I get it off. But being around some foods is like an alcoholic being around booz. I love the support that everyone gives here and I need some accountability, more than I get at the clinic.

    After I lost my initial weight, I was given the opportunity to help train staff for new clinics. That is another reason that I have to get this weight off. I'm not being a good example for new dieters. Of course I had still lost a lot of weight so I rationalized that I at least looked better than I did before. Now when I go to weigh in, the coach doesn't get tough on me because she knows that I train others and so I have gotten by with too many cheats. So I hope that being here will help me overcome my wanting to cheat and help me stay committed to my goal.

    So when you look to your coaches as experts, remember, they have the training but they are still human. A lot of them are in the same place that we are.

    That being said, I am able to get a lot of answers from the directors above me so I hope I can help others here too.

  • Way to get back on that horse! And, odd as this might sound, the fact that you only gained back 20 after losing 70.. well, I think that's pretty great. You hear horror stories of people putting it all back on but you are not one of them! Good luck as you get back to it. I also think this forum is great and plan to share it with my coaches in hopes they will share with their other clients.
  • Hi, everyone! I'm new to Ideal Protein and new to this forum. I had my initial consultation last evening and my first IP drink this morning (Blueberry, Cranberry, Pomegranate - not my favorite, I must say!)

    My BMI really rattled me - 39.4! I thought I would fall over! So it is absolutely essential that I lose this extra person I'm carrying around - she's pretty contrary and awfully heavy!

    Some of my most important goals and/or motivators are:

      I admit, I tend to lose self-confidence easily and need lots of support sometimes - so I'm really hoping that being on this forum will help me stay on track and give me the boosts I need to succeed. Thanks to everyone for listening!

    • Welcome Barbara!! You will love this site there are many people here that have a lot of experence. I think that your first meal on the program is always the worst I had the omlet and still after 14 weeks I cann't seem to eat them.

      I know how it feels to lose a bunch of weight and then gain a bunch back! Like you, I am DETERMINED NOT to do that this time!! We can do this!! Keep in mind...food is just fuel! It does not control us and it is not for comfort! Here are a few sayings that I keep reminding myself:

      "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"

      "Never trade what you want MOST for what you want now!"

      "What is IN the way....IS the way!"

    • Welcome Lkreutz!! I think sometimes maybe you just need a break from something and to come back and give it 100% rather than no break and only giving it 70%! I'm going to be coaching at my work starting in September (waiting for my fiance to have his leave from Afghanistan so that I don't have to push dieters off onto another coach for three weeks) and I don't think I could do it without the support that this group gives me! No one is perfect and we are always learning, so it's great to know that if I get stumped I can come here and ask people who actually experienced it or something similiar to it, and get great advice to pass on! GOOD LUCK!!


      Welcome Barbara!! I've been on ideal protein for a month now, and I noticed that our starting weight is about the same. Look at just one month can do! I always lost motivation with every diet I have tried before, but I find this so easy to stay motivated because the pounds are just falling off!! GOOD LUCK!!
