need a diet

  • The diet I was doing is too strict and I ended up binging (seems I do that with every strict diet....)
I need to learn to eat healthy. I was hoping tops could help me learn that.
I need advice on what to do. I just keep on gaining and gaining.
I was thinking about doing exchanges but it seems like alot of planning. Anyone here follow exchanges?
Can someone please recommend me something?
  • Hi,
Whatever you do, exchanges or counting calories it all takes a little planning. I count calories and have lost 19 pounds since August. But I keep track of everything I put in my mouth.

I would start by keeping things simple. Buy some weight watcher frozen meals or some lean cuisine. Have one at lunch and dinner. Add a piece of fruit or a salad with each meal.

For Breakfast, I like Raison toast with a tablespoon of Peanut Butter and a glass of skim milk.

I always have a snack at night. Usually a chocolate yogurt in an ice cream cone. Its only 100 calories, but remember thats for 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt.

Also about 2 times a week, I treat myself to a small Subway turkey sandwich or a quiznos turkey with some baked lays chips if I have really been watching it.

I also walk a mile everyday. In August I could barely walk around my block. Take baby steps and in no time you will feel better.
    Good luck

  • Skipper.....Most diets do require planning. TOPS has a very good book "The choice is Yours" and it will help you learn the exchange diet. It's hard to tell someone else what diet to use, because we are all different and what works for one may not be the best for another person. I've learned any diet that I can stick to works for me, but I do not like fad diets or diets that restrict what I can eat. The exchange diet and WW points are two good diets. You can eat pretty much what you want, but stick to allowed portions and eat well balanced meals. Eat lots of veggies and watch the starches. I know that this isn't much help, but as you go to TOPS, you will learn more and more how to "Take Off Pounds Sensibly.

  • I have tried counting calories, weighing what I eat, and the exchanges. I find following the exchanges the easiest to do. I also write down what I eat.
