why am I always starving after I walk?

  • atleast I feel like it.I try to eat alittle something before I walk, usually 1.5 miles. After I get home I eat a small snack but after about 30 min. I'm hungry again!Any ideas?I get up at 3am & walk around 1:30pm(go to bed about 9-9:30)I also need help spreading out my calories during the long day.I have a break around 7,lunch around 9,get off @1.
  • Sometimes I mistake hunger for thirst- have you tried drinking water to make sure it's not thirst?

Also if you are really starving sounds like you should try encorporating a larger snack before your walk OR "treat" yourself to another snack afterwards I know for me, if my lunch was at 9 I'd be STARVING by 1 pm and probably ready to eat anything in front of my face after a walk! lol.
  • Quote: ready to eat anything in front of my face after a walk! lol.
that about sums it up!I do drink my water,I even take a bottle with me while I walk.Someone told me to eat a protein bar before, but they have so many calories! Is there a better one?I belive I may also refigure my calories for the day,I stay between 1200-1400 now.
  • Ha! You're lucky. You start walking & want to eat something. My problem when I started walking was with the opposite end of my body from my mouth. I started walking & then always had to run for a bathroom. Nearly every time, in the beginning. Then my body seemed to sort itself out after a while. Between the two, let me tell you, I'll take hunger any day.
  • yea that happens to me too. try to eat something that will kee u a little fuller after u excersie. or even if u do feel a little hungry after an hour eat a SPECIAL K bar. and drink water
  • Ever heard the term "work up an apatite"? You are not alone.

Cantaloupe is my secret weapon after a work out. I can have a whole half pound for 150 calories. At 19 calories, a half gram of protein, and 147mg of potassium per ounce it's ideal after work out to fill you up, replenish your potassium, and give you some protein to tide you over until your next meal.
  • Eat a hard boiled egg, FULL of protein, less than 100 calories (I believe it's like 80 for a hard boiled egg), and it'll keep you satisfied for at least an hour. I have been eating 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast the past week and it keeps me going till lunchtime
