I went over....

  • Yesterday I went a little over on my calories- a lot over if going by the calories *I* allow myself, but only a little if going by what Fitday says I can eat each day. Fitday says I can have 1982 calories a day. I say I can have 1750. I had a little over 2100 yesterday. However, my carbs were 40%, protein 40% and fats 20% and my blood sugar this morning was 127! I am craving a little more - I think because TOM is coming, but I don't know for sure that was the reason. My calories yesterday were mostly healthy choices and several days this week I was about 200 under what I allow myself so I don't think I need to stress on it. Tomorrow is weigh in day so I am trying to stay a little under my allowance today. Wish me luck!

Edit: I just noticed I was off on my percentages.... I must have read it before adding all my food....still carbs was under 50%, but protein was only in the 20% range.
  • did you say your blood sugar was 127? or did you mean 12.7?
  • Quote: did you say your blood sugar was 127? or did you mean 12.7?
It was 127 this morning. It has been steadily going down these last three weeks. It has been between 200-250 for months, but since I started counting calories and watching it is finally going down. When I can consistently be between 80-110 every morning I will be ecstatic.
  • Remember that US blood sugar is measured differently (in mg/dl)...a 127 in US numbers is about equivalent to 7 mmol/l (international system).
  • I think going over every once in a while is a good thing. It means that you're being flexible and I believe it makes it easier to maintain over time when we're not so obsessive each day that we can't allow ourselves a little breathing room every once in a while. Sometimes I try to exercise a little extra if I've gone over, but really an extra 350 calories is practically negligible in the grand scheme of things. Heck, it's only 1/10 of a pound!
  • Thanks Annie. I actually attempted exercise today....I ran around my backyard for 6 minutes. LOL- it's all I could tolerate between my size and the 92 degree Texas spring heat.
  • I zig-zag my calories, so while I stick to 1700/day, I do have two days a week where I need 1950 (and two where I need 1450)the other three days a week I take in 1700. As long as the 7 days come out to equal 11900 it's okay. The zig zagging is designed to keep your metabolism on your toes.

See how progressive you are with your method!! So cool and didn't even know it!
