Runners - Would you or wouldn't you?

  • So, I randomly bruised my toenail on my left foot... It's the toe next to my big toe. Now I know this is not from running or from my shoes. I'm convinced that I must have kicked something. Anyhow, it's a little irritating, but not painful at the moment. I'd really love to do my run tonight and don't care (really) if it makes my toe hurt tomorrow. BUT I wanted your opinions - So, if your toe was bruised and causing you minor irritation would you go on your run? Or would you not? If not, how long would you wait to run again?
  • Personally i think i would go for it! if it bothers you too much you could always take it down to a walk! hope everything works out for ya
  • I would go - maybe throw a bandaid on it to prevent rubbing on the sock/shoe.
  • Yeah, just go and wrap something around that sucker so it doesn't bruise or rub more. If it starts getting very painful, start to walk. Ice it and elevate it tonight. Foot injuries take the longest to heal because they're the furthest from our lovely circulatory center, the heart.
  • Go ahead and run on it--- but, be prepared to possibly eventually lose the toenail if you do!
  • Yeah, I'd go... just walk if it hurts just walkk...
  • Thanks to all of you!! You all gave me the extra umph that I needed to just go and see how it went. So I did! It was fine, no pain and today? No pain. My toenail has turned a mean color now, but I figure what the hey? No biggie, I'll just wear purple toenail polish this weekend.
  • Hmmmmmmmm..........If you have never had black toenails, can you call yourself a runner?????

4 marathons (will be 5 by this time next week) 6000+ miles in the last 4 years. Zero black toenails.

    And yeah I would run.
  • No black toe nail here from running...Got one years ago from walking and wearing espadrilles that rubbed my big toes... They still don't look normal and it's been 12 years...
